Re: 40 of the most powerful photographs ever takenAye that got me and all when I first saw it.(Original post by The Illuminati)
That list was really touching but this one always gets to me
What on earth possesses someone to get their camera out, set it up and take pictures instead of getting the child help? I read that the guy who took that picture went on to commit suicide from the guilt.
I also like the picture of the young man kissing his girlfriend on the floor. Very romantic.
My favourite is the picture of the Earth from the moon. It makes it seem very real and I can imagine being very scared stood on the moon and looking back at the Earth realising how far away I am from everything I know. You'd be terrified. -
Re: 40 of the most powerful photographs ever takenHe got a lot of criticism for that. Apparently the child was desperate for water.(Original post by Wilfred Little)

Re: 40 of the most powerful photographs ever takenApparently he thought his job as a photographer was to be merely an observer. It seems like his duty as a photographer surpassed his duty as a decent human being. What did he see so wrong in taking the picture then helping the child instead of taking what he wanted and leaving the innocent child to, I imagine, a horrible fate.(Original post by Wilfred Little)

Whether she had a horrible fate depends on your view of becoming a Canadian.(Original post by The Illuminati)

I don't know how you can get the baby mixed up with Phan Thi Kim Phuc, one is Sudanese and has very dark skin, the other is east Asian and has very fair skin.

He got a lot of criticism for that. Apparently the child was desperate for water.Wikipedia states the following:(Original post by The Illuminati)
Apparently he thought his job as a photographer was to be merely an observer. It seems like his duty as a photographer surpassed his duty as a decent human being. What did he see so wrong in taking the picture then helping the child instead of taking what he wanted and leaving the innocent child to, I imagine, a horrible fate.
After snapping the photograph, Ut took Kim Phuc and the other injured children to Barsky Hospital in Saigon, where it was determined that her burns were so severe that she probably would not survive.[1] After a 14-month hospital stay and 17 surgical procedures, however, she was able to return home. Ut continued to visit her until he was evacuated during the fall of Saigon.[2]Last edited by Sir Fox; 04-06-2012 at 11:05.
