The difficulty of needing to eat a lot. Who else gets this?
does anybody else who wants to build a lot of muscle get this?

i want to get up to 15.5-16stone (i am a little under 6 foot) and the amount of food i would need to eat each day to get up to this level and maintain it is crazy. obvs i want to eat reasonably clean foods (otherwise i would simply eat a big tub of lard, put on lots of fat and look much worse) so this would mean things like 6 or 7 eggs in one meal, tubs of cottage cheese etc.

in general its difficult and i was wondering if anyone else found this. eating loads of food takes more time. people comment and call me greedy or generally make a comment on how much i eat. on nights out and things like that i start feeling hungry much quicker than i used to and being hungry makes me in a bad mood. when i am at home my parents restrict the amount i can eat and they wont let me buy in any extra food. the world is accommadated for average people and this includes their average portion sizes.

who else gets this general feeling that its tough to keep up a clean diet with lots of food? there are so many obstacles each day.

My biggest obstacle in building muscle is sleep. Especially during exam season. I find it extremely difficult to get a consistent sleeping pattern and get my hours of sleep in.
I don't mind the eating. as I usually eat alone, or whilst working/studying so I don't get the dodgy comments.

yes these are sort of similar scenarios. one of us needs to eat a lot more than average and one of us needs to eat a lot less than average! not trying to be bias but for me i believe it is worse. everyone in society knows about weight loss and there are many people who do it. other than the minority of guys (and even smaller minority of girls!) who go to the gym with the sole aim of building a lot of muscle, everyone else is pretty much ignorant of what it takes and how tough it is to build muscle. i have even had people say 'if you need to eat a lot, why not just scoff a load of cakes and chocolate?' :/ you need to eat a lot and you need to eat relatively clean foods too.

what happens when you are out socialising for the day or on a night out? usually i feel like ordering 2 or 3 meals from fast food restaurants we go to. that would look very strange and very greedy but its what i would like. before my appetite would have only wanted 1 meal but now my appetite is a lot higher.

It's cuz you are an ectomorph who is naturally characterized by long and thin muscles/limbs and low fat storage; usually referred to as slim. Ectomorphs are not predisposed to store fat or build muscle.

You should aim to drink a minimum of 4 pints of full fat milk a day as well as what you already consume. 1 with each meal and fit another in somewhere, but the more the better. This diet is called ½ GOMAD, strictly follow it and you will gain weight. Make sure you workout 2-3 times a week so it doesn't get stored as fat.

I don't go out that much but when I do I have a meal before I go, and then have some cottage cheese when I get back. I'm usually okay as I don't drink.

you missed the entire point of the thread. i know what it takes to build muscle thank you very much. i was referring more to the general difficulties i get in life from eating much more than the average person. i suggest you read the third paragraph of the first post.

I understand. I've had to take a mass gainer to help. My friends would go out and buy meals but it just isn't cost friendly in London. And the time it takes to prepare some meals, along with the cost of buying it can build up. I mean I used to take meat for granted until I realised that it is infact quite pricey.

This is absurd. What's their justification?

Mine won't restrict what I eat, but I kinda understand what you mean. Mine buy plenty of food yet when preparing my tea I always get ridiculously small amounts of food (e.g. a small pile of chips and a few fish fingers) so I've started being more in control of what food is prepared for me (e.g. preparing my own food). Is this a possibility for you too?

It also doesn't help that my brother eats like a pig. He goes on about how muscular his body is despite most of his body being fat, yet I'm the one who has to eat more if I'm gaining muscle.

How often are you at home? Are you living out at university?

How about trying to eat more calorie dense foods? Nuts are good for that - they're easy to keep around and are good for you.
And you could always incorporate protein powder into your diet? I'm currently having to use protein powder because I just physically can't seem to eat enough protein, and with the exercise I'm doing I need more of it. (Trying to build a bit of muscle up xD)

I don't eat that much on my bulk compared to some people (3300-3500cals) but it's really annoying trying to get everything in every day. Plus for my size/weight I should be eating 3000 to bulk but I don't put on any weight on that...

Cannibalism seems to be the implicit solution to this poser.
