What would you say someone would be have to be able to do, or be good at, to be regarded as intelligent?

    I like this question
a standard IQ test is generally based on reasoning, pattern following etc

if we treat intelligence as the ability to ride a bike the fish lives it’s life knowing it is stupid

Intelligence is learning from failure, knowing you wont be successful all the time, intelligence is not beating yourself for a failure rather, learning from that mistake. Not just having a high IQ. Intelligence is being an individual who thinks outside the box, who does not limit him or herself down to what is expected of them. They are defined by the choices they make, for their choices shape them and mould them into potentially moral and wise human beings.

I don't think that there's a single definition of what intelligence is, but according to wikipedia it is "Intelligence has been defined in many different ways, including the abilities, but not limited to, abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, reasoning, learning, having emotional knowledge, retaining, planning, and problem solving."

I know that wikipedia isn't the most reliable site on the web, but I guess that it will do fine in a situation like this.

you lost me at the fish.

As for the question, I am personally more inclined toward the multiple intelligence theory, I am not sure if it's biologically accurate but I look at the theory from a psychological view, it helps me explain what I see in myself and those around me.

I think it's easier to measure stupidity, even though it's the opposite end of the spectrum.
