Re: Chicken pox!!!Good thing. Shingles is very nasty at that age.(Original post by Annie72)
I'm not actually 72 years of age. -
Re: Chicken pox!!!I can cover mine up with foundation so it's not a huge problem, it's just when I have no makeup on that it looks awful >.<(Original post by carnationlilyrose)
Here's hoping I'm in the 90% then. I too got scars on the side of my nose and a couple of people asked me if I'd had it pierced, which if you knew me, you would realise was pretty unlikely and highly amusing. The scars faded after a few years, but if yours are from childhood, maybe they've faded as much as they're going to. I'm sure nobody notices them as much as you think. -
Re: Chicken pox!!!I'm pretty sure there's a vaccine available for chickenpox. It's very likely that your kids will get it eventually and you don't want to catch it off them because it can be serious for adults.(Original post by Annie72)
I've never had chicken pox and neither have my children.I dont fancy getting it at my age

Re: Chicken pox!!!There is a vaccine, and I think kids in America have it as routine. My own kids are 13 and 15 years of age.I had hoped they would get it as kids, but they never did.I always wondered if I was somehow immune to it and had passed it on to them.(Original post by rainbow.panda)

Re: Chicken pox!!!I suppose that might be possible. No one in my immediate family has ever had the flu, I guess we must have some kind of immunity to it.(Original post by Annie72)

I genuinely have never had it, and neither has anyone in my family. -

Re: Chicken pox!!!"Worry" is the automatic setting when you're a Mum! It's never nice seeing your child suffer, whether it's a cold or something much worse.(Original post by almosttrue)
Why feel sorry for him, its only chicken pox almost everyone gets it lol. I think the most useful advice is dont let him scratch the spots at all, this is what i did when i was that age and Ive still got white scars all over!
OP I hope he is better soon! Maybe get him to wear mittens if he's scratching a lot, as he's too little to understand not to scratch :-). -

Chicken pox parties were all the rage at one time (my kids are in their 20s, though.)
I've heard of those.I think they were also popular when my kids were little too. -
Re: Chicken pox!!!They didn't sound like an awful lot of fun, tbh. Neither of mine needed them. They both got it under the age of 2.(Original post by Annie72)

Re: Chicken pox!!!The only illness I seem to get anymore is a cold. My parents literally never catch anything at all. Must have good immune systems(Original post by Pandabär)

He's loads better again today, no temperature and he isn't scratching at all. Instead of using calamine lotion a friend suggested a gel from boots and it has worked wonders. His spots have started to crust over now, does this mean he is no longer contagious? Would be nice to take him for a walk tomorrow as he's sick of being stuck in the house.

Re: Chicken pox!!!That's good news. They do recover incredibly fast at that age. I think it does mean that, but check with NHS Direct. In any case, you could probably find somewhere to take him where he wouldn't come into contact with anybody you couldn't warn to keep away.(Original post by nlsmith3)
