Reason I'm asking is because this year she said she doesn't want me to get her anything because she doesn't like spending money on presents and doesn't want to have to return the favour. It's on the 14th so I still have time... just not sure what I should do. :/

Yes. Its her 21st! Make her something if you want to avoid her feeling guilty about it. (that way cheaper and more thoughtful )

A token gift to mark the day is all that is needed, I think everyone, no matter how grumpy, likes to have something to open on their birthday.

If she doesn't give them, why should you?

Give her a firm handshake and tell her to be on her way.

Ohh wow, my brother does this to me and he never cares that I don't get him anything either. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere where it's appreciated. If you have put hard work to get what you have then I'd say get he something that holds more meaning than value. Besides these are the best presents after all; anyone can buy a diamond, but is that the same as buying a smile? Not always...

Do you believe in love at first sight? It's an illusion, I don't care.

Yes, even if it is something cheap.

Maybe downloading a load of songs she likes onto a disc for her B-Day. You know, something that requires a little effort and isn't all that expensive if you know where to get your music from.

This. It's a nice gesture, especially for family members, and shows you care. It doesn't have to be expensive.
