Should be possible, but probably isn't worth it unless you have a good few thousand Euros in savings. Bear in mind exchange rate fluctuations before transferring.

The best place to find out more is banks' websites. The big high-street banks in the UK are Barclays, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, RBS, NatWest, Halifax, and a few others. Look at their websites and phone them up to find out more.

    Hi!

That's a tricky question... let me explain
Nowadays I'm in Spain, studying my last year at university, the point is that in my university there are some schoolarships, one of them allow the students to make an internship in a company in other EU country so maybe next year I'll be the whole year in UK.

But I'd like to know if from Spain I can open a bank account, if it's impossible I'll wait to the next year.

    Thanks!!

(sorry about the spelling mistakes )

    Hi!

I'm Spanish and I'm currently studying in the UK. Before coming here, I was wondering the same as you. However, I called to different banks that have branches both in Spain and the UK, and apparently it is impossible to open a UK account from a Spanish branch. So I would recommend you to want until you arrive to the UK. Then, once you are living here (you need to prove that you are working or studying, and you need a UK address), open a bank account is really easy.

    Hope this is helpful
