Re: Topless This Summer?Nonsense. Take your white knight shaming tactics elsewhere. Typical really. Labeling any one who disagrees with your view as a misogynist seems to be the norm in threads like these. So now it's misogynistic to experience feelings of lust upon seeing breasts. I guess biology and hormones have absolutely nothing to do with it then?(Original post by SquaredCircle)
A lot of the male antagonism is to do with women having confidence in themselves and their body. It is very difficult for men to treat topless women as people rather than sex objects. Rather than confront their shallowness they dislike topless woman who make them feel uncomfortable about their internal monologue. Also a lot of men sulk at the thought of these naked pretty girls not having sex with them which manifests itself as hatred and unbridled sexism.
Which is all very ironic when you consider the normal misogynistic response to seeing BREASTS would be lusting like a wild pack of dogs.
It always makes me laugh when guys think they're being 'understanding' and 'progressive' by spouting feminist rhetoric. -
Re: Topless This Summer? You were topless in front of family members? Was that not awkward or anything? o.O(Original post by Bex94)
Me and my friends are going away in a few weeks on our first girly holiday together.
We were chatting about what we would be doing when we're there when the subject of topless sunbathing came up. There's eight of us going on the holiday (to Greece) and two said absolutely no way were they taking their tops off and thought the idea was disgusting. Four of my friends said they might depending what they feel like when we're there and what others are doing and one said she definitely will. I was quite indifferent having been topless on holiday before, but only in front of family members.
Just wondered if this was the consensus on here? I know some people are shy and a bit prudish but would you think it was "disgusting" if you saw others topless on the beach or by the pool?
If you've been topless before, did you encounter any negativity?
BTW - this isn't aimed at boys [...awaits lots of boys saying "I always go topless"...]! -
Re: Topless This Summer?I think the OP said it was with her mum and sister.(Original post by vedderfan94)

Re: Topless This Summer? When I was a kid my mum went topless and I hid my face under a blanket because I was embarassed. Now I think I was being stupid, and wouldn't mind if she was doing it again. I think it depends on the age of family members whether or not it is awkward.(Original post by vedderfan94)

Re: Topless This Summer? Not really as it was only my mum and sister and we're quite open about these things at home.(Original post by vedderfan94)

Re: Topless This Summer?
I've just come back from a week in the south of France and at the beaches including St Tropez one afternoon, some women sunbathed topless, of varying ages, and where there were groups of women together, some were as the OP's group may be, a mixture of those with and those without their tops on.
The only place where no topless sunbathing took place was around the pool at the apartments I was at.
