Balancing part time work with revision?
Basically like most college students I had a part time job as well as going to college full time. As its exam season I asked my manager about 3 weeks ago if it was ok if she reduced my hours for the upcoming weeks as I had exams and needed to revise; she said this wasn't a problem.

However, I get my shifts for the following week and I had like 15 hours. I let it pass as I thought we may have been short staffed that week and they really needed me. The next week comes by and I've got something like 13 hours do I reminded her again that I had exams etc and she said she had "forgot" and will cut my hours. My hours for this week is 12 but my hours for next week is 27!!!!

I'm so mad - the week before my exams and I'm working 27 hours!
How would you suggest bringing it up to my manager? Because there's no way I'm doing those shifts!

Oh my gosh, that sounds hectic. I work for a lawyer, and Im currently retaking Alevels. I asked her if she could cut my 9-5, 7 days a week work load down coz exams are coming up and she said yeh thats fine. And just like your boss she forgot and she gave me like 9-4, 7 days a week and I was erm hello yeah no. My co-workers explained to me that shes not doing anything purposefully, and that she really is a scatter brain jsut coz of how much she has to cope with, I knocker on her office explained it a couple of times and she sorted it out. It took about 7 attempts to drum it into her, but by the 8th attempt shed learnt that she couldnt make me work such stupid hours. Honestly, you just have to keep going back to your boss, and at the end of the day you shouldnt feel nervous about doing so. Its your education, and you told your boss about it...shes just being forgetful!!

It will work out if you be strong and keep pestering her.

My advice though, is to always say Sorry. My boss told me she felt horribly guilty when I got so apologetic!!
