Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(That would be SO GOOD!(Original post by priya8D)
Thank you! Good luck for your exams too. I know 'that middle bit'! I have a powerpoint regarding the revolution in surgery that covers the problems of pain, infection and bloodloss and how they were tackled. If you want I can send it to you?
Is there any way you can send it to me via here or do I need to give you my email address?

Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(Our mock paper was on liberal reforms, which we were told was last years paper? and our teacher told us that suffragists and suffragettes is yet to come up? I hope she's right(Original post by HerroKitty)
I'm doing the British Depth Study for paper 2 and have found that there is actually very little content wise and it is really how you write and use the sources correctly for the answer.
Although I'm not sure what's going to come up.
Home front came up in June 2011 and Womens suffrage was in Jan 2012 so I'm thinking it might be Liberal Reforms.

Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(nazi germany is atleast interesting(Original post by priya8D)
Hey - we're on the same boat! But I'm doing medicine through time and nazi germany. I know the feeling...it feels like my brain has exceeded its maximum capacity and I can't take in anymore. Try doing something else for a bit then come back to all your notes with a pair of fresh eyes. Samlearning and Bitesize are quite good for revision, check out youtube as well - there's bound to be some revision videos for the topics you are studying.
Make a timeline, mind maps, revision cards - or whatever you think works best
Go to the AQA website and check out the past papers and mark schemes with the exemplar answers and identify what the question is asking you to do. Try out a load of questions so you can get your mind set
I'm trying to do all this but all the other exams are taking over! Good luck and Happy revising!
I roughly remember dates in past papers i;d be talking about 20th century medicine then talk about galen
only learn the important ones ie. Chloroform, germ theory, blood transfusion,1st magic bullet -
Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(
HELLO EVERYONE. I AM CONFUSED ABOUT THE MODERN WORLD PAPER
I AM DOING INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS 1919-2005 USA 1945-1975
Basically there is a part 1: which consists of 3 sections with are inter war, cold war and new world. And part 2: depth study USA. I am unsure about part 1: I understand there is a choice, but I was wondering was that in the exam will we be given all 3 sections to choose from or different schools given different sections on what they have studied ??? I looked at OCR website and found that we had studied all 3 sections at a past paper, but when my teacher gave me a past paper he missed out section 1 and 2 from part 1?? Is this because we haven't studied part 1 and 2 or was that just because he condensed it. Thank you everyone and good luck to all.. ( I will rep

Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(Well, you should spend about 8 minutes on each 5 mark source question, that 24 minutes. 8 minutes for 5 mark, 10 minutes for 7 mark, 12 minutes for 8 marks - that gives you 54 minutes, do the same for merican West but you have 5 extr marks more, so use the spare 6 minutes wisely on the extra marks available - the strucutre is really easy, remember you don't need to remember everything!!!!!!!!(Original post by Jen1996)
Whatt?? I don't know if its because we are doing different topics but the timing seems completely different
In all my past papers it just says "advised to spend one hour on this section" where you have to answer 1a) b) and c) (usually all 5 marks), then pick a) b) and c) (5,7 and 8 marks) out of 3 possible questions. Then another 1 hour on section B, which for me is American West where its a similar format.
Saying that we haven't been told how much time to spend on each individual part a/b/c
So confused now :/ Really want to find someone doing Crime and Punishment through time and the American West. Anyone ? -

Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(Im doing it as well heres what you have to do:(Original post by g33k3y)
Does anyone else think that the source paper (i'm doing british society) is more about how you answer the questions rather than what you know? I am absolutely dreading the source paper but idk the other one (Nazi Germany) is going to be even worse, there's just so much to learn and not enough time D: plus they've put all the other important subjects like maths after one another AGH!
Q1. You have to make 2 inferences from source A, they must be supported with quotes. (to get full 6 marks)
Q2. Is a purpose question. So to get full marks you need to write about the message that the source is conveying, and then about the purpose of the source. Also add some content in there. Must be backed up with quotes. Expect to write about 2 paragraphs.
Q3. ask you how 'sources A and B support the evidence of source C' this is a cross referencing question. To get full marks make statements about agreement and disagreement of the sources, must be backed up with quotes; must make a judgement on the degree of support between the sources using their contents and reliability. Expect to write 2 paragraphs as well as a mini conclusion.
Q4. This question is Utility question, 'how useful are sources D and E'.
To get full marks write about the usefullness of each source aswell as how reliable they are. Also write 'what they are', 'when they were written', 'why they were written'. And then give a conclusion on which is the most useful. Again remember to quote.
Q5. Asks you to test a hypothesis/statement with all the sources. This means which sources agree and which sources disagree with the statement in the question. To get full marks: a fully balanced answer about all the sources, making a judgement on the level of agree/disagreement of the sources, using their content and reliability. Make the reliability relevant to the question. Must write about all the sources (A, B, C, D, E and F). And to finish off must have a conclusion with your final judgement. Again must back you answer up with quotes
hope this helps

Re: GCSE History exam tuesday 12th june :(
Is anyone doing aqa medicine through time and know if the first section of the paper is on public health or not? The section where the most marks are and does anyone know a good technique it answering questions such as 1b, 1c and 1d as I am struggling to compare sources as I feel I am repeating the same thing over and over again!?!? please really appreciate if someone replied x

I've already done crime and punishment and the protest unit, this year is Nazi Germany for me. I struggled with crime and punishment first time around but resat in January and boosted my mark to an A, finding that the only thing that helped revision-wise was flipping to the back of the standard textbook and looking at all those timelines at the back THEY ARE A GOD SEND. MEMORISE THOSE AS BEST AS YOU CAN!(Original post by lucyjane11)
I'm doing Crime and Punishment and Nazi Germany. Anyone else doing that? And who else is struggling with Crime and Punishment!? There is too much to learn! Does anyone have some kind of summary of all the key dates and information?
Crime and punishment has so much content, it's ridiculous. -
