Swedish boy genius - brilliant, cute and 10 years old
This kid is really amazing - I wonder what he'll be doing when he's 18?? He helped his father discover the atomic structure of a type of crystal called approximants, whatever that means.

    Virgin for life.

Jokes, seriously though, it doesn't sound as if he's some prodigy; he just came to the problem with a clear head and solved it.

What did he actually contribute to solving the problem? Maybe his dad just thought it would be nice to stick his son's name on a paper?

As an aside I'm pretty sure the kid's mum is also a chem professor.

When I read the title I knew he would be at least half-Asian. Spot on!

I find this tremendously unlikely. My mother childminds and sometimes she makes buns. While she's making buns, she puts the children on a stool next to her and they play with the mixture a bit and at the end she tells them they helped to make buns. I can't help but feel that this is something of a similar scenario, particularly since they refer to the boy's help via his skill at sudokus - sudoku is a trivial logic exercise and as soon as the professor saw any kind of link between his research and a similar exercise he could almost certainly have got a computer to do it for him. If I were a professor, I would not at all feel bad about putting my son's name on a research paper for something like this, so all things considered I am skeptical that this boy's influence over the solution to the problem was as great as the media would like to make out.

Nope. I watched the video with mild interest, and immediately forgot about it afterwards. Nothing good-looking or smart about that.

More like grand-father; rather than his father.
