    Post office question
    Hi guys
I'm selling some stuff on ebay .. Sold a few dresses and because of the jubilee weekend won't be sending those off till wednesday. But anyway, my question is do I need to go to the post office to post my stuff? Can I just put a 1st or 2nd class stamp on the envelope and pop it in a pillarbox? Cos at the moment I don't know whether my envelope classes as a large letter (1.10) or a a parcel (2.20)- either way it will be pricier than if I just stuck a stamp on it. It fits through my pillarbox.

    Thanks in advance.

    I'm an eBay seller too.

You should never post with a 1st/2nd class stamp because you will never ever find out if it reach the destination.

The buyer could do you over by telling eBay they have not received the item and you won't be able to prove it.

Cheapest is a 2nd class recorded, but depends on weight.

Oooh is it.. how do you post your things?
    My envelopes are plastic 12"x9"x2"
And so basically I can pop it into the post it wouldn't be incorrect to do so but its risky.. right?

Well first get an envelope that will fit your item Make sure you make it look professional lol..
Well you can just pop it into the post, that's what i did for my first ever sale on eBay and i ended up with a negative feedback because it took ages to arrive lol But to be on the safe side, you shouldn't really post it in the post box (could get lost etc, no compensation etc)
    I'd recommend 2nd class recorded..

How much did your item sell for?

I'm selling wholesale dresses and the auctions are all ending tomorrow night I have plastic envelopes that fit it quite well but cos its a dress its giving me trouble in terms of cost.
I stupidly offered free postage without thinking about the costs and now I'm not making too much of a profit so I'm panicking lol.

Also, do you send them in plastic bags or paper?

You'd need to go in to the Post Office because they need to weigh everything.

Well if you can wrap it well enough with plastic bags, then there shouldn't be a problem!

No worried about the questions lol!

My first sale i posted off my AAT book (it was so big and thick). I put it in an envelope and paid first class stamp (50 pence then lol)..

Make sure your postage is not more than what you sold the item for lol!

You can weigh it yourself, work out the cost on the royal mail site, and then stick enough stamps on to cover the cost if you want.

But you can't just stick one stamp on and shove it in a post box which seems to be what you're suggesting.
