Green tea!
Hey guys!
So recently I have been drinking green tea to increase my water intake and help me with weight loss. I have a few questions though, since I don't know much about it.
I'm drinking Twinings tea bags, green tea with cherry blossom or pear and apple flavours. I know that it would be much better to drink pure green tea without the flavours, but I'm just trying to ease myself in with some flavours, otherwise it would be really boring and I wouldn't bother boiling the kettle. How much better is it to drink pure green tea?
Also, what are the alternatives to Twinings tea bags that you would reccommend, after I get used to drinking these? What are the healthier alternatives?
Do you add anything to your green teas, such as lemon, honey, or sweetener?
How many cups should you drink a day, to maybe lose some weight? Is this is myth or does it work?
Thankss

I just generally like green tea. Drink 2-3 mugs a day, plain with nothing added in.
Which type/brand do you drink? -
Re: Green tea!I've experimented a lot. Twinnings is my favourite(Original post by BrookeDavis)

Green tea is a MILLION times nicer if you brew it using tea leaves rather than a tea bag. -
Re: Green tea!Clippers, one teaspoon in a teapot, just off the boil water on top, leave for 2-5mins depending on how strong you like it, strain it, and there you go perfect cup of tea(Original post by BrookeDavis)

Re: Green tea!I usually have Tetley's blueberry or lemon green tea. They taste really good. I haven't really tried many different brands though so can't really compare. I also like Lord Nelson green tea, especially the one with vanilla in. I generally have 2-3 cups a day(Original post by BrookeDavis)

Re: Green tea!
trust me, it's not a myth, i'm drinking loads and my sis also does it, even if you don't lose that much weight, cos it's like anti oxidant, it takes whole bloat-y look, and because it makes you go to the toilet a lot, haha, you get rid of the waste, quicker, so yeah, it really does help, i make my green tea (twinings) go cold and just gulp it down in one go, don't like the taste much

Re: Green tea!
White tea is supposed to be healthier and is a bit more like normal tea
I used to drink 2-3 cups of green tea and lemon daily but then stopped and I do think it made some obvious beneficial impact although I had quit smoking around the same time so it's hard to measure, will buy some tomorrow. Taste wise it was a chore to drink though.Last edited by Fusion; 02-06-2012 at 22:29. -
Re: Green tea!
No big deal drinking green tea with flavouring as long as it's natural flavouring and not some freaky stuff.
I don't like green tea much, I drink white tea instead which is pretty much the younger version of green tea, picked from the earlier buds. It's more delicate and gives pretty much the same benefits.
I wouldn't drink green tea for weight loss, it does speed up your metabolism but not sure if it would contribute much to weight loss. If I wanted to lose weight I'd concentrate on exercise and cutting out sugar and grains as much as possible.
I know a great, all-natural detox pack that helps you lose weight, you get lots of support with it- my sister dropped two jean sizes from it and feels amazing. It costs about £100 though and lasts for 9 days but it really does work. Don't want to 'advertise' on here so let me know if you're interested and I'll point you to it.
Back to the green tea, though- don't stress about adding natural things to it such as honey. You might want to give coconut oil a go too, one of Miranda Kerr's tips. Bit strange but kind of nice.
I wouldn't drink more than 3 cups of green tea a day due to the flouride, try mixing it up with other herbal teas, there's so many out there.Last edited by Naminam; 03-06-2012 at 20:00. -
Re: Green tea!
I drink 3-4 cups of tetley green tea and just squeeze bit of lemon in it. Or if I feel I'm due a treat some lemon and honey.
Tea is thought to have many health benefits, some proven some not proven. For weightloss I believe there is some research on it's effects on helping insulin sensitivety, it helps with your metabolism and is may prevent cardiovascular disease. Here's the wiki article which has a section on health benefits of tea.
its like forcing yourself to drink it
And I have to force myself to finish a cup :/
