ductiile materials and simple harmonic motion
can someone please explain how the plastic deformation of ductile materials reduce the amplitude of oscillation like in ropes?
in my textbook it talks about ropes must be both slightly stiff and ductile?
why not just stiff? would this just reduce the amplitude of oscillation to quickly and so be to much of a shock for a body? please help -
