What do you do when you finish an exam early?
Personally i work right up until the end double checking etc. I know they are "only" GCSEs, but i just try to use all the time available.
But some people i've noticed, finish and don't touch the paper for another 15 minutes until they hand it in.
It's becoming almost a race in my school to finish the exam stupidly early, and to lean back in your chair, almost to prove something.
I just find it really off putting tbh, and wonder if i'm just really slow or something!
Of course there are probably geniuses who are able to finish exams perfectly, really early, and others who don't care atall. However, the people i see doing it do not fall into either of these categories.
Not having a dig, just wondering if others notice people doing it, or if you do it yourself, why? -

Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
I usually check it again and again every single answer. I make sure that my grammar is correct (because you know, when you're in a rush things can get messed up) and I make sure I selected the MCQ right. I never stop until the moderator says "put your pens down"

Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
When I did my GCSEs, I just slept.
Now I'm doing my A Levels, I don't usually finish early, but the one exam I did finish early on I went back to sleep again.
To answer your question, when I was doing my GCSEs I had genuinely finished the exam and written what I could and thought was adequate. The one A Level I finished early was because I hadn't studied for it so couldn't write enough to fill the time I had.Last edited by carehow; 02-06-2012 at 17:09. -
I do the same, so you're not alone! On Thursday I had an RE exam and the girl next to me finished early and subsequently went to sleep on the desk whilst I was checking my answers like a lunatic! It seems to work though!(Original post by burgerrr)

Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
I don't usually finish much before the end of an exam, but when I do finish, I check over and over until I am sure there isn't anymore I can do then sit back and relax until the end of the exam (usually 1-2 mins).
If you finish ages and ages before the exam ends, you have probably not written enough.
I did 3 exams in January, and after all of them my friend was going on about how they had been really easy and she had finished halfway through and it made me feel inadequate because I worked right up to the last few minutes. But I didn't feel so inadequate on results day, when I had a*a*a* and she had cce.
Don't worry about it. -
Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
If I have time, I usually go over some answers as in all the past exams I've done I've made stupid mistakes which I luckily corrected. It surprised me how many I made! I suppose though that I was rushing at times and it just happened naturally. But, as a tip for all, don't just sit there doing nothing; use the time productively!
It depends how much time I have. If I have a while, I'll check over and then close the paper for a bit to relax/refresh my mind out of everything. Then at the end before we finish I'll go over it one final time. -
Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
I usually try to stretch my exam out as long as possible so that I'm not left waiting at the end, but I can rarely manage this.
I go over and answer any questions I left out. I then count up what marks I definitely 100% got and see what my grade would be if all the iffy ones were wrong.
Then I stare at the clock for 900 seconds. -
Re: What do you do when you finish an exam early?
I always end up sat next to the ones who finish in fifteen minutes and basically just sit there staring into space, which panics me a little. Usually, I check through a few times and make sure everything is how I want it to be, if there is a question I'm finding particularly difficult then I'll basically just stare at it until it comes to me. If I have a lot of time to spare then I'll probably have five minutes at the end where I just relax a little, seen as I work all the way through the exam.
