    MSci Camborne
I'm looking at doing MSc Mining geology at Camborne (CSM). I'm currently on a 2:1 which the course requires but I have the feeling places will be very competitive and I may need a 1st. Any experience from former/current postgrads?
Studying applied geology at Leicester, starting 3rd year October
The fees are £7.8k (!), I recon 4k for living. Probably get a Barclays grad loan for 6-7k is this realistic.

I assume you mean the MSc Mining Geology (1 year postgrad) as an MSci is a four year undergraduate masters.

If it says it requires a 2.1 then that's what it requires, as far as their concerned the more people that go there the more money they get! Places arnt that competitive, as long as your on course for a 2.1 and write a decent personal statement you'll be fine!

Thats the fees for this academic year, it says it'll rise considerably in the next few years. Barclays grad loans can be up to £10,000 so you can ask for up to that. Just remember when applying to say that you want to stay in the country after you graduate (even though you probably wont). If your only getting a 7k loan how the hell are you gonna afford living costs?

Id say its about £350-400 a month for a house, plus bills and then food onto of that so living expenses will be more like £5000-6000. Just draw out the full barclays loan, the employment rates from the Mining Geology course are amazing and the starting salaries insane!

    Cool thanks for the advice.
Hoping to visit the campus in September and have a look around. Started saving already (working this summer, started today).
    Looking forward to it!
