Films that taught you a lesson.
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Films that taught you a lesson.
This should be interesting. It can be anything you think.
For me, some may have seen me mention it before, it's 500 days of summer. It kind of related to my life at the time, where you have that girl who is amazing and everything seems to go right for her but then she breaks your heart. It was kind of inspiring and shows that if you focus on yourself there's hope at the end of the tunnel and everything works itself out.
Another good one isthe matrix because it taught me this is all a dreamworldSchindler's list. I have a burning hate for all tihngs black and white and that film was. I didn't want to watch it (later I realised the significance of it being black and white) but after I had it stayed with me forever and pretty much changed my outlook on about people who are different. Minority groups, in any walk of life, are not to be feared and in times of desperation certainly not to be blamed.
Crazy, two hugely different films, to big lessons.
I'm guessing that might seem deep, but lets hear what you have.
INB4 Lord of the rings taught me that small hobbits can still be heroes. -

Godard's Une femme est une femme:
Three francs. I don't have enough. I don't have any money. I've got an idea. Let me ask you a question. Answer yes or no, okay?
Answer yes, and I owe you 100 francs. Answer no, and you owe me 100, okay?
Okay.
Here's the question: can you loan me 100 francs?
No.
Then you owe me. I'll pay you back next week.
A damn fine way to avoid paying a bar tab if you ask me.Last edited by Illusionary; 03-06-2012 at 15:52. -
The Prestige (lovee this movie)
Jealousy gets you no where. And revenge may not be so satisfying.
Atonement
Reinforced my hate for people who majorly lie and serial liars that lie about major incidents. E.g. Sexual abuse in the movie
Memento
Cherish your ability to be able to create and retain memories.
The Departed
People actually choose to live a lie. Living like this never ends well..Last edited by alis-volatpropriis; 02-06-2012 at 23:44. -

Tom was just as bad as Summer in 500 Days. Dude decided she was his soul mate because she recognised an extremely popular Smiths song. That film is the perfect example of an unbalanced relationship.
In the words of the smartest person in that film, his sister, “just because some cute girl likes the same bizarro crap you do, doesn’t make her your soul mate.”

Re: Films that taught you a lesson.
Schindlers List is one of the most moving films ever. The events happens only 67 years ago. Racism of any form is not acceptable, due to the fact that what happened to those people could easily happen again.

Taught me to be more tolerant to people who ony want to live with us in our country.
