    standard electrode potentials
    what does that mean:

standard electrode potentials apply to aq equilibria-does that mean all reactants and products have to be aq or does it only have too contain one which is aq.????

Hmmm, could you supply the full quote ?

All electrode potentials are measured relative to the standard hydrogen electrode.

In the SHE hydrogen gas is being used.

So, I believe that your statement is flawed.

No not all the species have to be in the aqueous phase. Eg the cu/cu2+ electrode which will be a solid copper electrode and a solution of cu2+, eg cuso4
