Re: How to lose belly fat
Exercise. You're probably the type that does never exercise, but also do not consume a lot of calories, hence being underweight. As much as you might not want to hear it, you cannot concentrate belly fat loss. Your body fat is distributed equally over your body. To lose your belly, you will also need to lose fat elsewhere too.
Start exercising and avoid fatty foods. -
Re: How to lose belly fatNormally I would agree with everyone else here. Lose weight and the belly fat will go.(Original post by Gary)

However you said you are quite skinny and the problem is that if you lose more weight you may get your flat stomach but will will look even more skinny. You have the typical skinny fat problem in which you are skinny but have high body fat and little muscle mass.
I think that you may be better off spending time gaining weight to build muscle first. You do this by lifting weights and eating slightly more calories than you need. Then after a while of building muscle (for at least a few months) then you can then lose body fat.
However its up to you whether you lose the fat first or build muscle first but if I were you considering how slim you are I will build muscle first then worry about body fat later. -
Re: How to lose belly fatHow can you loose more weight?(Original post by Gary)

you're already a tad too skinny.
I'm sure your "belly fat" is just a psychological one, in the sense that you think you have a big belly, which in fact is not the case

Re: How to lose belly fatYou don't need to 'lose' anything.(Original post by Gary)
Ahhh ok, will lifting weight and losing fat at the same time work?

Join a gym.
Run a basic lifting program (SS/SL).
Sprint 3-5 times per week.
Eat lots of food. -
Re: How to lose belly fatSit ups do nothing to lose belly fat. It is a common misconception that areas of fat loss can be targeted, but this is not the case. Your best bet would be to just continue with cardio exercise, and throw in a weekly weights/resistance training session as well, that would help lose belly fat a lot better than doing loads of sit ups.(Original post by Lucy-Mc)
I'm exactly the same, fairly slim all over but my belly seems to be growing! I've been suggested to start doing sit ups to try and help tone my belly!

Re: How to lose belly fatFirst you want to get some cardio exercise in. I suggest jogging as the best exercise but most people say that's tedious and very few stick to it. Cycling is a very close second. Cycle to and from places, this should lose you some of that flab.. Hopefully. After that, you want to get some resistance training in. Do a certain amount of sit ups and similar every day which should increase your muscle to fat ratio which increases your metabolism in turn. Tied in with this, you want to eat a healthy diet... Low GI carbs are a good thing to add in..(Original post by Gary)
Ok so I'm kinda skinny but I have a belly which I could never get rid off... Could someone tell me how I could lose this belly fat?

Have fun shifting that little bit of flab.. It's as pesky as hell :/ -
Re: How to lose belly fatthe point of inb4 is that you say something that will be repeated before any other poster. Peeople have actually already said that.(Original post by londonlawstudent)
in b4 you can't spot reduce fat -
Re: How to lose belly fat
ere are great tips to lose stomach fat: Get rid of the habit of eating junk foods which essentially just loads your body with high sugar content. As most of junk food consists of lots of refined sugars, your blood sugar level will be raised when eaten quickly. That leads to reduction in fat burning and increase in appetite.

Re: How to lose belly fat
I am trying to get rid of my belly as well for 2 years now lol
I would recommend going to a gym. I myself prefer fitness classes that involve the weight lifting and a little bit of cardio. Last year I tried to do exercises at home because I had my exams but it didn't help at all. Avoid drinks with sugar and acid, it really makes a big difference for me. When I drink coke the next day there is a bigger belly in front of me
You need carbohydrates as well so do not stop eating bread etc. but reduce your consumption. When you feel hungry during the meals try to go with fruits.
That's all I have done and I have seen a big difference within a month
I go to the gym 4 - 5 times per week for an hour. I have started with 2 per week for the first 2 weeks though.

Re: How to lose belly fat
At 9st 9lbs it is likely that you don't actually have so much fat. What is more likely the problem is that you don't have enough muscle to hold your skin taught.
Check this picture out:
Assuming that these guys are roughly the same height (and have similar bone structure etc.) - the one on the right actually has less fat than the other guy yet most people would assume that the guy on the left is leaner because he looks firm. When you are skinny, even the tiniest amounts of body fat give you a belly because there are no bulging muscles holding it taught. -
Re: How to lose belly fat
hey guys, just throwing in my two penneths worth.
im 6ft5 and was 16 stone but it was all beer belly. after the lads at work give me a fair ribbing for it i decided to do something about it. i stopped eating sugary foods and started eating a lot of natural sugar, fruit etc and started on high protein diets. the idea is to stop eating complex carbs and then your body will start running off body fat. at the same time i started at the gym doing 4 spin classes a week as well as body pump/combat classes and boxing. i bought a bike a cycle to work 15 miles a day round trip and my belly literally fell off in 3 months. starting weight was 16 stone as stated and im now just about to go below 14 stone 3 months on.
it wasnt easy and took a lot of self discipline to eat fruit instead of chips, especially since the ratio of fast food to healthy food near my works is about 5:1, but now i dont see it as something i need to do and a diet its just what i do everyday and the diet has just changed into my normal eating regime.
unfortuntly there are no excerises to target fat loss as you just lose fat from wherever your fat stores are....this in women is the bum and hips etc and the blokes get it on their back and stomach....
it is hard but gets massively easy when your fitness improves.
