Hi all,

So, I've been hearing lot's of rumors that the iPhone 5 is going to be released in October of this year!?
If this is the case then I'm thinking of holding out on my contract and waiting for that phone instead of getting the iPhone 4S now (as my contract lasts 2 years, I'd then have to wait 2 years to get the iPhone 5 (or whatever is around then))
If you get me?
Also, if the iPhone 5 is going to be out sometime in the near future, does anyone have any ideas as to what it'll include/new features etc?

It will most likely have a new design because the 4S looked virtually the same as the 4. Some rumors say it is going to have a 4inch screen. Most likely a faster processor, better camera sensor and battery. I would definitely wait it out for the 5. I think it will be out around October. Since thats when the 4S came out.

I would recommend not buying crApple phones and waiting for better alternatives by companies such as Samsung and HTC. (both of which have new phones released very recently)

My blackberry contract has ended since January, it better come out this year... However I'm hearing quite alot of news about the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung Galaxy 3 is the most powerful smartphone yet and probably will be months after the release of the iPhone 5.

I don't want it though, screen is too big for me.

I had an android and yeah they have produced some brilliant phones such as the HTC One X and S2 but I personally went for the 4S in November because I liked the OS of the music player and its camera was superior at the time. Shame some buses ran over it and I'm now using a sony w810i and saving up for the iphone 5 lol.

Do you mean a phone with Android OS installed?

The music player is nothing special; there are many better music players available in the Google Play Store for devices running Android OS variants.

The iPhone 5 will just be playing catch up.

I personally think it will have 4 inch screen, a better camera, redesigned and facebook integration. I hope to have a a better processor than the A5X in the ipad, cos that wasn't a massively huge improvement, but graphics wise it's amazing

No during the WWDC next Monday ios6 and new MacBooks are going to be announced. In September/October the iPhone 5 will be announced!

I made some rumour renders a while back:


This was before the Galaxy S III launch! The new GSIII looks very similar, so Apple wouldn't go down that route.

Here are some of my other ideas:

With the existing 4/4S at the back.

I now think the 5 will have a completely flat glass front, as always, and curved back.
For the precise shape of the back, there are two likely options:
1. the same curvature as the iPad
2. a more "blobist" style, like in the 3G/3GS

As for the material, I always thought anodised aluminium should be the next step, but HTC and Samsung have now got that on their superphones, and Apple would never even seem to copy them, so they wouldn't use that. So I don't know what else they'll do.

In all my renders, I assumed that the front dimensions would never change, only the thickness, and I also thought that the next iPhone would have a camera button, since the camera on the 4S was so good, but now I'm changing my mind.

Android superphones consistently beat Apple in terms of specs, and intelligence of software, so I only ever concentrate on what Ive will do.

It will be a pretty intense month for all those underpaid workers in the factories!
It will be a pretty intense month for the mobile phone industry!
