Re: Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?Try doing a reset on your router. If not then 99% the problem is on their end and they're breaching their contract. You could threaten them with small claims.(Original post by harufi)
We already rang up and said that ages ago, and they refuse to let us out the contract or fix it until we try new router, new socke-thing-that-sorts-wires-out. We just spent £120 on a new router that worked brilliantly for 2 weeks, then as soon as we swapped to TalkTalk full package, it stops. We've already tried new wires, doesn't work, but they refuse to do anything until we buy a new router - be nice if they'd pay for it. -
Re: Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?
TalkTalk in general are pretty rubbish, i have been with them for 4 years and whilst they are okay for general internet use (emails, web browsing) i wouldn't recommend them for anything else, as for drop outs ..... my internet usually drops out every night for around 10 minutes past midnight, but it has also happened often at random times of the day / evening.
I also had no internet for 2 weeks around xmas because some p***k stole the copper cabling from the exchange, sure it wasn't TTs fault, but it took forever for them to even tell us there was a problem and sort it. -
Re: Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?My Dad's friend is very knowledgeable when it comes to electronics, he recommended the router and was well worth the price.(Original post by callum9999)
Well as spending £120 on a router is ridiculous to the extreme (even if you didn't want to shop around, you could just walk into Comet and pick one up for £35...), are you sure you are actually doing what TalkTalk are asking?
Yep, definitely sure. -

Think we're going to have another long phone-call with them to sort it out, will have to try that, thanks :P -
Re: Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?All of them are crap its finding the best of the worse, BT though is good for the majority, i have a mate on talk talk he's never had an issue with his either, except slower internet. as you'd expect, given the price.(Original post by Abed1993)
Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?
Anyone here on TalkTalk?
Their broadband is very cheap and i was wondering if they're any good?
What about BT? -
Re: Is TalkTalk Broadband good? Or BT?Well worth the price how? I find it incredibly hard to believe that a £120 router could offer absolutely anything more than a £30 router for the typical student. What makes it worth 4x the price?(Original post by harufi)
My Dad's friend is very knowledgeable when it comes to electronics, he recommended the router and was well worth the price.
Yep, definitely sure. -
