When are the football "purists" going to shut up?
Chelsea 3-2 Barcelona (agg)
England 1-0 Spain
So after another win for England where they failed to dominate possession, the usual idiots are crawling out of the woodwork whining on about how amazing Xavi/Iniesta are and how rubbish English players are in comparison. This is all very well but do these guys ever actually look at the results of matches, which is ultimately all that matters?
It doesn't matter what your pass completion or possession is like, the winner of a match is the team that scores the most goals and the Spanish midgets with an aversion to shooting towards goal have been beaten by the English twice this season.
When you manage to get the ball in the net more times than us, come back and gloat. Until then STFU and admit that we know how to win matches and you don't.Last edited by barnetbuzzzz; 03-06-2012 at 13:17. -

Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?I couldn't care less about United. Congratulations on your achievement. You guys don't play the sort of football I'm on about.
This thread isn't aimed at you, it's aimed at the possession football obsessives who ignore the fact that football matches are won by the team that scores the most goals. -
Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?
England dont have players with pure technical abilities to play sexy football. Except Rooney, Wilshere and Scholes. Not many of them possess those qualities. I quite like this defensive football, because we are getting results for the national team now under Roy.

England don't have the players to play the type of football people desire.
They don't - simple as. We've seen how they can hardly string five passes together.Agreed.(Original post by Tackla)

Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?Despite what people think, we were getting results under Capello - in terms of win percentage he's our all-time most successful manager (aside from Woy's current 100% record).(Original post by Tackla)

Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?If we want to be honest most of their league problems were early in the season before the manager who won them the Champions League came along(Original post by marcusmerehay)
If Chelsea knew how to win matches they wouldn't have finished 6th. -
Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?Yh, we failed in WC 2010 though, the type of play didnt work against mediocre teams, but it was good enough to beat Andorra and other poor teams.(Original post by marcusmerehay)

Re: When are the football "purists" going to shut up?We do have the players but no coaches who are dedicated to developing this type of football. Things like this take time which coaches do not have as they are out the door if they don't start achieving results straight away.(Original post by Femto)
