    Hyperactive cat
He's 9 years old but acts like a kitten! He does not settle down and torments my dog by chasing her.

How do I calm him down?

Has he always been like this? if not, then you could take him to a vet, in case there's something troubling him.

He's always been quite boisterous but he never seems happy, no matter how much food/attention I give him. He does scratch his ears a lot recently so I'm wondering if he's got ear mites?

Hmm... i'd definitely have him checked, just in case. It might be nothing, but you can never be too sure. Maybe, he could have tics which would drive any animal crazy!

You say he's hyperactive and eats a lot....and is 9 years old.

Get him down to the vet, get his ears checked, mention the above - he may have an overactive thyroid, very common in cats.
