    i will speak for Christianity.

Christianity is the one true religion. That may sound awfully dogmatic and narrow-minded, but the simple truth is that Christianity is the only true religion. Jesus said that He alone was the way to the Father (John 14:6), that He alone revealed the Father (Matt. 11:27; Luke 10:22). Christians do not go around saying Christianity is the only way because they are arrogant, narrow-minded, stupid, and judgmental. They do so because they believe what Jesus said. They believe in Jesus, who claimed to be God (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14), who forgave sins (Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48), and who rose from the dead (Luke 24:24-29; John 2:19f). Jesus said that He was the only way. Jesus is unique. He was either telling the truth, He was crazy, or He was a liar. But since everyone agrees that Jesus was a good man, how then could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? He had to be telling the truth. He is the only way.

Christianity is not just a religion; it is a relationship with God. It is a trusting in Jesus and what He did on the cross (1 Cor. 15:1-4), not on what you can do for yourself (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Buddha didn't rise from the dead, nor did Confucius or Zoroaster. Muhammad didn't fulfill detailed prophecy. Alexander the Great didn't raise the dead or heal the sick. And though there is far less reliable information written about them, people believed in them.

The scripture is right when it says in 1 Pet. 2:7-8, "This precious value, then, is for you who believe. But for those who disbelieve, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this became the very corner stone,' and, 'A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed."

Citing these things without explanation is at best an argument that people believed them, not that they were true.

Firstly there's a 4th prong, other people were wrong about what he said. But even if they weren't (which I'd say is up in the air about just how far toward claiming he was actually divine he ever went) you can preach commonly accepted good things and still be wrong theologically. His doctrine of treating people nicely is essentially Platonic in nature and represents the massive influence stoicism had in contemporary religious as well as political thought.

Just claiming he has what people see as qualifying him to be a "good man" doesn't necessitate he is God.

The non-believers position is predicated on these things not being true of Jesus either.

I was raised on Christian values by my family. I don't think about religion enough to have much opinion on it.

are you saying muslims don't have a relationship with god? are you saying the jews didn't have a relationship with god until jesus came around?

the relationship aspect is in all religions, christianity just has a slightly different set up. muslims don't pray to god five times a day because they think he is a stranger or casual acquaintance.

Pastafarianism is the one and only true religion.
At least i can actually see my god, he blesses me with spaghetti and meatballs, what more can you ask for?

If you don't agree, then you have yet to be touched by his noodly appendage.

It's gotta be Jews, both Islam and Christianity come from Judaism (more so Christianity than Islam) Muslims believe from Abraham, the first Jew. With Christianity Jesus and all his disciples were Jewish, and the old testament is the Torah, therefore it's feasible that Christianity is actually a stream of Judaism in a weird way.

Atheism > your current position > religion.

You basically do not know what to believe and now want people to tell you which religion to follow. Ehm ... how do you think that works? People of all religions will try to persuade you, what will you base your decision on?

    1. You cannot verify their claims. They might tell you things which actually aren't true.
    2. One of the people trying to convince you may be very persuasive whilst another one might be less gifted concerning this matter. Now, does that mean the persuasive guy's religion is the way to go? Maybe the less convincing man's religion would suit you more and there would be other people more talented in explaining that.

If you don't believe in anything right now, why do you desperately search for something? If you are unhappy with your life, need something which gives you confidence and peace and are in the process of self-discovery, there are other (more rational) ways

Evidence that you know for certain a particular religion exists, but I was only born 20 years ago so it's hard to believe the stuff that I hear from the people trying to persuade me.

To answer that question adaquetly, the believer must put forward an argument that simply cannot be applied to any other faith. If it is an argument that can be used for other faiths, then the argument must be wrong, and cannot be used to justify your faith (not that faith can be justified, it's belief without evidence).

I've never heard an adaquet argument.

Ok, silly question but... why did Jesus have to die? Why did the 'Father' send down his only 'Son' knowing that he's going to die? And if the 'Father' sent down the 'Son' does that not make the Father more powerful and therefore 'Trinity' unbalanced (3 make up 1 but there is an unequal power-share) Why was it necessary for Jesus to die for the 'Father' to forgive the sins of humans. Is 'God/Father' incapable of forgiving without blood being shed? (especially as it is unjust as Jesus was Good/did nothing wrong) What could God not see, feel or experience that Jesus HAD to be sent down.

    Just curious

I'm not religious but I was raised catholic and can answer your questions.

Firstly for our trinity being unbalanced, Jesus himself chose to die. Before his capture he prayed to his father telling him he didn't want to die but he would do as his father commanded. He wasn't forced to die but chose to thus it is not implied the trinity is unbalanced as Jesus could have chose to live.

Secondly, It is highly implied at the time of Jesus coming that the religion was corrupted by those leading it (ie. people being able to use the temples as market places and swindle people out of money. Also the wealth of the religious leaders) thus Jesus needed to come to lead people in a new direction, away from corruption (though you can say some Christian churches are corrupt today). Jesus died because 1) Humans wanted to see his blood shed as well (the people were given a chance to save Jesus) and 2) the amount of human sin was that high it required a sacrifice. Jesus didn't just die for the people at the time but for ALL sins, even sins today. His sacrifice was to give everyone a chance to be saved as long as they accepted him.

I hope I answered a majority of your questions. If you have more questions I will try and answer them. I DO NOT want a religious debate. I am not religious myself and wish not to defend or argue for either position.

Ok, but then again, why is the Father commanding the Son. Does Jesus not do stuff on his own accord?

Going back to my point; why does any amount of sin require blood sacrifices? Is God not Forgiving?

i am a small.....small and very small part of Hindu religion.

I think Hinduism is only one religion who give other to spread their think and myth sis without any break, till now.it is mother of other religion, like Buddhism,Sikhism,Jainism.
Hinduism gave the world a deep thought about maths, medicines, astrology, politi cal science, horoscope technique, and others by the Vedas,Purana and and Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Hinduism have great people like Vivekananda, chankya, they never spread Hinduism but they spread knwledge that we have, which helpful for others,

Vivekananda said: "The Vedas teach that the soul is divine, only held in the bondage of matter; perfection will be reached when this bond will burst, and the word they use for it is, therefore, Mukti - freedom, freedom from the bonds of imperfection, freedom from death and misery."

"Hindu religion does not consist in struggles and attempts to believe a certain doctrine or dogma, but in realizing not in believing, but in being and becoming."

“The time has come for the Hinduism of the Rishis to become dynamic. Shall we stand by whilst alien hands attempt to destroy the fortress of the Ancient Faith?…shall we remain passive or shall we become aggressive, as in the days of old, preaching unto the nations the glory of the Dharma?…In order to rise again, India must be strong and united, and must focus all its living forces. To bring this about is the meaning of my sannyasa!
