Doubt I'll be accepted for 5th year ?
I just would like some help/assurance regarding my situation. Basically, I'm studying abroad right now doing GCSE's at a private, but pretty bad school. Only 5.5 were offered to me ( long story ). I also changed schools and countries in year 10 (3rd year) due to family reasons.

I have been accepted to a boarding school in Scotland (I'm scottish). But I think that was because my (predicted) grades were pretty good (all B's)

But what If I don't get all B's? What happens if I get all C's? Do you think they'll say I can't do any highers? I think at best I'll get 3 B's and 2.5 C's.

I'm really worried about this.. any advice would be appreciated

TL;DR - Might not have the minimum Standard Grades ( GCSE's ) to enrol in my new school for 5th year.

Depends on the procedures of the school you're going to. My feeling is that they're unlikely to change their minds unless your offer was explicitly conditional. If this is worrying you, it's something you should take up with the school - probably via your parents, at this stage.

If you don't have the grades for the Higher then it's likely they'll just put you in for a lower course (eg: Intermediate 2) rather than not let you in. Unless, ofc, your placement there is conditional like TheUnbeliever said.

The thing is, going on to a lower course would mean repeating 4th year, which in turn would mean repeating 3rd year as I'm not actually doing standard grades. (GCSE's)

I'd assume the most likely thing to happen is probably do four Highers, and one Int 2, instead of 5 Highers?

Generally speaking to do a higher in scotland you need a 1 or 2 at standard grade/A or B int 2. It's up to the discression of the school though. Even then you're only going into 5th year which means even if you do all int 2s, you can still do 5 highers in 6th year.

Being on a lower course wouldn't be repeating a year as you wouldn't be asked to sit Standard Grades. If they put you onto a course lower than Higher it would be Int 1 or Int 2 - not standard grade. It's just how the system works.

Eg: I missed a philosophy NAB resit this year due to signal problems at my local train station on the day I was meant to sit it, so I was put in for the Int 2 exam instead of the Higher I was meant to be taking.
