Should we limit immigration?I was wondering what you guys thought about limiting immigration abit more in the UK. Especially, as we have a recession- we have less resources and less jobs. Or screening immigrants apart from asylum seekers to make sure that they speak good english and they are able to integrate. Although, immigration is positive to a certain extent, the problem we have in the UK is the lack of intergration.

I like the aspect of social engineering to immigration. I think its better for humanity if we all became "coffee coloured" or to that effect within a certain amount of time. It makes it better for humanity to live together.
Lots of immigrants integrate properly and we have plenty of space still. -

No. Immigration should continue and never stop. Eastern European immigration should stop as there's too many polish ppl and they're turning African community's into nazi camp zones. -

Re: Should we limit immigration?Anyone who thinks that an unlimited, 'open door' immigration policy in a country like the UK is a good idea, is ****ing retarded.
Incase you hadnt noticed, the UK isnt exactly the largest country in the world, we have a high population density as it is and nowhere near the required infrastructure to support such a massive influx of people. And unless you want to rapidly see every inch of our countryside, forests and wild areas destroyed and turned into sprawling concrete jungles and suburbs, open door or anything other than very low level immigration should be out of the question. If anything we need to be finding ways to reduce our population, not increase it. -

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of immigrants where a net drain on our living standards.
When you factor in how much the welfare state provides to people in this country such as the free schooling, benefits, social programmes, not to mention healthcare which Immigrants need more than others its obvious only a small number actively increase GDP per capita and benefit us. Not to mention social problems
Far too many migrants are here simply taking low end cleaning or minimum wage jobs which should be going to UK unemployed, not the mention the cash in hand untaxed black market which is huge. It really does sound like "They took our jobs" but that's the truth.
There are too many people in the UK already. -

Australia is alright apparently and loads of english people are going over there but I think we're a lot less picky about who comes in than they are.(Original post by ZoominglyFree)
Surely now we have such a low employment rate, even for the really educated,the attraction to come here will slowly decrease anyway? Im not saying thats a fact or anything...just a thought?! -

I'm no expert but it would make sense if that was the case. As I said in my other post, it's nice that people like our country so much but I guess 'the more the merrier' isn't really very practical.(Original post by python)
