Re: Should we limit immigration?
People against immigration are frankly ignorant, priveliged *****. Just because you happen to have been born in a country shouldn't give you a birthright of a decent lifestyle, and nor should being born elsewhere condemn you to a short life of poverty. The sooner we achieve global unification the sooner we can get rid of this stupid stigmatic approach to immigration.

Re: Should we limit immigration? In that it doesn't offer enough support for the unfortunate families who end up requiring its help? I agree totally.(Original post by Spaz Man)
Immigration was never the actual problem, the welfare state is. -
Re: Should we limit immigration?I mean in terms of the magnets that the welfare state offers to immigrants who want to come here to take benefits. If the welfare state was cut back, any immigrants who did come here would all benefit society and boost our economy as the majority of immigrants already do of course.(Original post by TheDefiniteArticle)

Re: Should we limit immigration? Why are we considering our economy ahead of the living rights of immigrants? They have exactly equal rights to us. Also, if we cut back on the welfare state it would undoubtedly have severe repercussions for the unfortunate and genuinely ill - which is the most part of those who use the welfare state.(Original post by Spaz Man)

Also, your argument seems to be based on the myth that illegal immigrants claim benefits. They can't, and thus don't. Legal immigrants can given certain conditions, but our current overly rigorous screening for new immigrants means that any immigrant who is legal is more highly skilled than 90% of our resident population. -
Re: Should we limit immigration? You clearly didn't read the bit where I said "benefit society and boost our economy as the majority of immigrants already do of course.".(Original post by TheDefiniteArticle)

To your second point. Good. We need very highly skilled immigrants. Steve Job's father was Syrian. Mark Zuckerberg's family were from Eastern Europe. We need skilled immigrants to help us producea skill-based knowledge economy which can benefit us in the long-run. -
Re: Should we limit immigration? My point wasn't that, but that these 'immigrants who come here to take benefits' don't exist. Immigrants may come here, hearing the streets are paved with gold, and then realise that it's not the utopia they thought and end up unemployed. If an immigrant is currently able to gain benefits here they will have a job when they get here so won't claim benefits.(Original post by Spaz Man)

Re: Should we limit immigration? They do exist. I have plenty of friends who's parents came to this country for the benefits. Don't act as though the problem doesn't exist. I am an ethnic minority and as such I am not restricted by political correctness on this issue.(Original post by TheDefiniteArticle)

Re: Should we limit immigration?I'm acting as though the problem doesn't exist because I don't believe it does. Are you sure that was their motive - i.e. have they explicitly said so - or are you jumping to conclusions?(Original post by Spaz Man)

Re: Should we limit immigration? You sound like a real simpleton. I bet you are fine with socially conservative attitudes as long as they come from brown people too. The European project: a reaction to the horrors of WWII that ultimately relies on non functioning democracy to try and engineer a different set of identities on a continent's people but fails to solve any of the problems as actual absolutes (hatred, intolerance, prejudice, greed, hunger for power, Religion etc). So a pointless exercise...(Original post by Sharpshooter)
Nope the world is becoming mixed race, let it.
I like the aspect of social engineering to immigration. I think its better for humanity if we all became "coffee coloured" or to that effect within a certain amount of time. It makes it better for humanity to live together.
Lots of immigrants integrate properly and we have plenty of space still. -
Re: Should we limit immigration? Then how did they get into the country? Seems like a hard way to earn an 'easy' 'living'.(Original post by Spaz Man)
That's exactly what they said. You are acting as though it doesn't exist. -
Re: Should we limit immigration?Other things factored into it of course such as the type of country the UK is i.e respectable and open.(Original post by TheDefiniteArticle)

Re: Should we limit immigration? The UK's a soft touch and has been for too long. These immigrants know they can milk the system, and they do.(Original post by TheDefiniteArticle)

Re: Should we limit immigration?Low employment rate? Lol. Just lol(Original post by ZoominglyFree)
Surely now we have such a low employment rate, even for the really educated, the attraction to come here will slowly decrease anyway? Im not saying thats a fact or anything...just a thought?!

Im sorry but what the hell are you talking about?(Original post by BACTSR2)

Are you purposefully being vague to create the illusion of intellectual?
Your response had nothing to do with the post you quoted.
