Hey. So what will you be wearing in school. We dont have to waer uniform but ww do have a dresscode. Anyway the dress code says dark suit in winter and for speech or open day. Light colored suit for summer. So im a little worried since i have some suits and blazers which are more of a light grey Abs some are dark grey. Do you think that will be alright or does it have to be black?and im not quite sure about how wile are allowed to combinate...i think that warring the same suite with a white shirt all week might become little dull...

Re: IB Lost
Hello

Sorry I haven't replied in a while, I've been really busy lately..So as for the mufti thing, thats non uniform right? Like your own clothes? Haha, because if so, then if it says that then i guess that means exactly that, whatever you want to wear, jeans and a top etc. The whole sexual misbehavior thing, yeah basically no 'sexual relations' annddd with the dress code; I think black or dark grey suits are fine for winter and then for the summer one, Im guessing light grey will be fine, but to be sure you should probably check with your school. Our dress code is basically suits of a dark colour and then rules about skirt lengths, the colour of tights, shoes etc. etc.
It still hasn't really set in for me that I'm going yet, has it you? This morning in the post we got lots of information about the school policies and my new boarding house etc. so it's becoming a tad more real as time goes on!
Also, sorry if ive asked this before but im losing track of the different threads
what subjects are you taking?
Im taking:
HL: English, History and Biology
SL: Maths, French B and Spanish Ab Initio

Re: IB Lost
yeah mufti is basically your own clothes. guess you're allowed to wear whatever you want after the academic day. i'll see...
thanks about the dress code thing. my school rules only said that it has to be a suit and that the word suit implies either blazer+business dress, blazer+skirt or a regular suit. nothing suits me like a suit...at least from september on
it really just seemed so far away when i applied and it even felt so far away last week...but now it's coming closer and closer and i'm getting more and more nervous...on one hand it feels like i'm running out of time on the other hand i'm really excited. i've been looking up stuff about my school in the internet because i'm just soooo excited. so i'm not sure about the subjects yet( did youalready have to tell your school what subjects you're taking? if not then when do they want to know?)
German HL
English
History SL
Biology HL
Maths SL
Art
not sure if i want HL English or Art...or maybe four HL. heard this is quite common.
You're combination sounds great. I'd love to learn spanish, but i think i might be little overwhelmed with the work load and also i think i might want to study art at university so i'm taking art...thought about music for group 6,but it just seems like alot of work and there is a 30 minute performance included and i'm waaay to shy for that. But my mum agreed on guitar lessons although they're expensive(i did teach myself to play, but i want to actually learn it the right way).
I'm just so excited, but also very sad about leaving my family, horse and friends. but i'm guessing it's the right thing for me to do. Thank god for holidays

Re: IB Lost
Ahh okay, and yes i know! All my mates surprised me with a 'surprise get together camp thing' last night, so at that point I kinda realised as they gave me presents and cards and things! But to be quite honest, I know im going...I'm just not really believing it at the moment..I started thinking the other day I should start making a list or something of things to pack...I mean what do you bring?!?!?!
Anndd the school asked for the subjects that I would most likely take so they could see if they fitted in with option blocks etc. Slightly scared about the whole double the language aspect...but hey' ho
I cant draw to save my life so art is a definite no..and I only really play piano to relax and stuff..music for me would be stressful!
and thats awesome about your guitar lessons and things! and I know what you mean about leaving everyone, clearly its harder for you because...well...I only live about 2 hours away from my new school, but I guess its still the same principle of going alone, without your regular routine and the regular people around you all the time etc. but im sure we'll get used to it after a few weeks! Think of it as a school residential trip for the first couple of weeks...then it'll just feel normal i guess to be doing all the typical boarding stuff!..WOW...this post is long..sorry! but my main question is the whole what to pack, how much clothes etc.?!? -
Re: IB Lost
yeah same feeling...sort of. i know i'm going and i know it's the right thing ,but i don't know if i want it to be ture. guess the closer the leaving day comes the more i'm filled with doubt. know the feeling about piano and stuff. i play for fun. i tend to get sort of bad at it when i'm under pressure so i'm not taking music.
yeah i guess it's basically the same. we better get used to it
but i guess we will after a few weeks.
so about the packing...i don't really know. i mean i sort of made a list, but it's more like a general list like: bathroom stuff and blaa...i just need to type it out and then ill post it here.

Re: IB Lost
Ah okay, yeah that seems like a good list of stuff
Id only add my ipod and dock, my own pillow and a laundry bag but to be honest the rest is the same basically
Hahaaa yeah, i feel the same way, I know that its going to be good and I do want to go, its just not 'hit home' as such yet... and to be honest, im sure you'll make friends easily. I guess the thing to remember is that apart from the fact there will be other new people, people are generally nice and friendly and the school itself will have things in place to make sure people settle in, like a 'buddy' scheme and the whole 'teambuilding' things we mentioned in an earlier post
so to be blunt, we'll be fine! I just need to go out and get bits of stationary and folders and stuff now :P

Re: IB LostMust be really looking forward to doing CAS, your EE, TOK and all your IA's . Did I also mention how if you fail any one of the components in your IB that I listed earlier then you fail your IB Diploma.
A pleasant future of sleep deprivation and coffee is awaiting you
!
(Okay maybe I'm joking a bit about the sleep deprivation part, though only if you know how to time manage well
)

Re: IB Lostcompletely forgot about that. it didn't even occur to me that i might need a laundry bag. thank god for TSR(Original post by 24hoursmiles)

),my ipod and stuff with me on the plane so i forgot to mention that, but i would have completely forgotten bout the laundry bag. you're a life(or laundry) saver

Re: IB LostYeah fine, still looking forward to it, considering that I'll be going to a school that has been doing it for the past 15 years, is ranked in the top 20 Sixth Forms in the country, and where I get on really well with the students. Furthermore, I love a challenge, and found GCSEs really boring because there were periods of no work, which was very tedious. So yes, I'm looking forward to the IB.(Original post by Heeck)

Re: IB Lost
what's ESS?
Mevidek: what school will you be going to?
i sort of had the same problem as you,but also a motivation problem, because if i stayed in germany i would have to take subjects that don't even really count and i just don't get the system and i don't see why i should learn stuff that doesn't count at all. so that's also why i chose the IB.
