A change of Heart from Midwifery to Nursing
Hi I'm new to posting but have read comments for a while.

After careful consideration, continuing work experience at local SureStart and Maternity units. Whilst this has been enjoyed it is something for the future not the present. Its got to be nursing then midwifery 5/10 years down the line.

My questions are obviously the personal statement will have to be totally binned and changed to Adult Nursing. Will the experienced gained be a help or be a hinderance to Nursing application? Will it be frowned upon for the change of heart? Is it as competitive as Midwifery to get in with some universities having as little as 20 places? Should the work experience be continued or should something more nurse based be sought after?

    Sorry so many questions.

    Thanks

It's not a complete change of heart, though. It's also one of the reasons places ask for work experience - the reality can be different to how you imagined it. And also many unis will let students swap between related degrees because people change specialities.

If you can, find some nursing related work experience. Unis might ask how the new choice is right for you if you haven't - after all, before you started the other work experience you loved midwifery and now you don't, so the same thing could happen with nursing once you try it.
