Maastricht University?
I am interested in the International Business programme starting september 2013.
I was wondering if anyone could share an experience of arriving from an English speaking country to the Netherlands, was it easy to find your way around, did you make good friends etc?
And also how did you deal with your financial sides of the uni? (as not being able to receive the loans)
Thank you!

Re: Maastricht University?
i've heard very good things about Maastricht. a lot of my friends who graduated before me went there to study international business or law, and it is deffo a very highly regarded institution globally. i haven't visited myself, but the town seems absolutely lovely, and the countless flashy facebook photos seem to indicate a decent nightlife.

what's more, it's reeeally 'affordable' (a nice way of saying cheap, i guess), at least it is for EU nationals, don't know about internationals. the Netherlands are generally pleasant, the weather isn't rotten and the scenery is quite nice. the youth subculture is great fun, and i go when i can with friends to the bigger music festivals there. can't wait for pinkpop!
as far as English-speaking goes, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. and besides, in international unis like Maastricht, everyone speaks English anyway. you'll have a blast

Re: Maastricht University?for EU nationals, tuition fees are around 3000 euros per year. that's what, 2500 pounds? all of my friends who went there just paid regular tuition fees, as far as i'm aware. it's really cheap compared to British or American universities.(Original post by Bailey271)
Thank you so much this really helps! Do you know how your friends coped with finance? And did they make friends quickly? And how they found accommodation before hand etc?
Sorry for so many questions!
Thanks a lot

as for friends, that's probably the best bit. because it's an international university, the community is really open. you get people from all over the world. i have a close friend who went, who was half German and half Indian. he now spends his weekdays hanging out with a mixed group of friends consisting of an Italian, a Canadian, an Israeli-Spanish and a Dutch student. and they all have English in common. he also plays drums in a rock band with a few new friends he met there, though i haven't heard anything by them yet. and on weekends, he goes clubbing, or travels to the bigger cities nearby. but anyway he's totally having a blast, and i can't wait to visit him.
i'm not so sure about accommodation to be quite honest with you. i think the aforementioned friend is sharing a flat, as it was handy and cheap. i'm pretty sure that can be worked out easily though. -
Okay thank you both.
That top link was very helpful I think I have read it before, I am just very the rested in knowing more about the university.
It's good to know that there is lots of different nationalities within one university, I think it would be such a great experience and let me learn more about other cultures at the same time!
Just send more information about the university this way!
Why have people chosen this university? Advantages? Disadvantages?
Thanks!
