    clearing 2012 help
    Hello,

most likely I will get a BBB (overall).

What courses are more likely to be in clearing? If any of the below are please reply or give any other courses. Just want to have an idea of what courses are (ive done some researching before posting this but couldnt really find besides someone said sciences.

    law
    ict related
    english

also, is MMU and Salford in clearing? Also, are the course grade requirements the same as stated on their website right now or do they differ in clearing?

You won't find many law courses in clearing, or, not for any unis worth doing it at anyway as far as that's concerned.

is there any chance, if you ring a university up (who youve missed a conditional offer by some ums marks) to let you in to another course via that way?)

or on results day is the only way to get onto another course is via clearing? unless the uni state offering another course/deferred entry?

Surely that depends on your ambitions? Magic Circle, probably not. Small town solicitor, possibly.

OP: It really is very hard to predict in advance, because it varies wildly from year to year. Someone (carnationlilyrose?) recently compared it to a sale - a shop that had a surplus of a good one year don't buy as much of it the next year ... in much the same way as a university that had a lot of spaces in Clearing one year would probably not allocate as many spaces for that course the next year.

The best I can say is MMU and Salford have been in Clearing in the past, but that doesn't guarantee they will this year or for what courses. The grade requirements may be down a little bit, it depends on how competitive a university think their course is in Clearing.

Universities can do alternative offers, so there is a chance you can be let in that way. They also do have the ability to change their replies, so if they agreed to a changed offer you wouldn't necessarily have to use Clearing.

However, universities know your results long before you do, so by the time you're received their decision, they've already had the better part of a week to consider you. Therefore, unless you have new information, it's unlikely that phoning them up will change anything and I usually advise people to focus on Clearing if they're in it, unless they'd rather not go to university at all that use Clearing. Secure a Clearing place, then try your firm if you really want to.

If you would rather no university, or have your insurance secured, it is not a waste of time to try your firm, but the chances of it working are still quite small.

Could anyone recommend 'good' International Relations departments/courses that would probably or usually be available through clearing ?

Do unis lower their entry requirements when they have many spaces available ?
