If you're ultra-keen have a read of 'Basic Dental Procedures'...will add an extra dimension to any work experience you do.

    Good luck!

Do some work experience or voluntary work instead.

Although not exactly related to the career, per se, Getting Into Dental School is a book I heartily recommend. It's pure gold in terms of information on securing a place at Uni and even has stuff on current dental issues that you could get asked about at interviews!

Of course, there's also D.I.Y. Dentistry. It has next to nothing to do with anything, but it's HILARIOUS!!...I'll shut up now.

Similarl question, Im (hopefully) off to sheffield next year to do dentistry and my schools given me two prizes which with the trophy you also get 2 books bought for uni but ive gotta choose them soon. Any potential dental students or current dental students think of any books ill definitely need next year? Preferably for sheffield but i imagine many of the books are the same? any suggestions? Thanks

pickard's manual of operative dentistry is a core text in the first couple of years. It is a easy to read textbook and is good for when u do your work experience as it will explain the prodecures you observe.

I thought the Getting into Dental School wasn't as good as people made it out to be. I ended up selling mine on Amazon because I thought that information on TSR was more useful.

Your opinion is wrongTo each his own, I suppose! I use a number of resources, one of which is that book and I think it's a great supplement.

Getting into Dental School is a fantastic read and helped me out a lot during application time...I would be much more inclined to follow what that has to say than TSR.

    Good luck!
