Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)ugh linked statements, my teacher's always going on about them! Ok, an example is : The earthquake led to the destruction of 120 quays, damaging ecosystems which therefore damaged the economy through the tourism sector. << That wasn't a particularly good example, but it basically means you have to say how one thing leads to another(Original post by bassingabout)
linked statements? What d'you mean?
Agreed, an example would be great!

Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)
For an 8 mark question, how many points do you do?
My teacher said 4, then fully explain them. That doesn't really make any sense because to get full marks, from what I've seen on the mark scheme there is a lot more than 4 points. And then my teacher said for the paragraph he wrote if someone wrote that they'd get the full marks. Well, that definitely doesn't make sense, because in the mark scheme it says even a perfect answer doesn't equal full marks!
So, how many points is it for an 8 mark question?
Thanks. -
Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)I don't think anyone on this thread will be doing Specification B because this thread is only for Specification A, also I just had a quick look at one of the papers and they are very different, although some things in this thread will still apply.(Original post by Cosmocos)
Oh I found out I am doing Specification B ... Anyone else doing so?
Best of luck.

Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)Same topics(Original post by ConnorMcD)
The Restless Earth
Coastal Processes
Rocks, Resources and Scenary for me.
Revision is going well, just the case study information is quite difficult to revise all the KEY details. Predicted a B and hopefully will get so
I've done pretty much all the revision for Rocks and Scenery and Restless Earth, just got Coasts to go now! And I need to go over the case studies too.
Waht do you think will come up for Rocks and Scenery/Coasts? -
Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)I'm not too sure, I've not seen one...(Original post by Cosmocos)

how is revision going for everyone? Mines going ok except I keep getting all the figures mixed up in the case studies :/
mine's exactly the same, expecially if there's effects for about three different case studies, i always mix them up :O)
i was predicted A* and i have no idea how the hell that will happen

Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)I was gonna ask the same thing :P(Original post by boing360)
does anyone know in water on land topic if we need to know a case study of flood control it doesnt appear to be in the sepecification but its in my textbook - The river Tees
Well I think we do, I thought it was The Three Gorges Dam in China though!? Like as a hard engineering example.
I'm just going to learn a few points on it, hopefully it won't come up! -
Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)To be honest, I don't think there is a certain number, I just write the answer in as much detail as possible and include all the points. Make sure you don't exceed 10 minutes in an 8 marker though, or else you'll run out of time at the end. Been there done that in my last science exam, missed out about 1/4 of questions due to poor time management(Original post by >Username<)

Re: GCSE AQA Geography A (Physical, Unit 1) (14th June)January 2012?(Original post by Koroviev)
Hiya! I'm doing The Restless Earth, Water on Land and The Coastal Zone. Does anyone know what appeared on the January 2012 paper for The Restless Earth? Can't seem to find it on the AQA website.
The most recent geography exam of your description was last June 2011.
You will find that the past papers for June 2011 and June 2010 are on the AQA website. Click on subjects, then geography, then past papers gcse specification a.
Good luck

Do we need to know Yellowstone as a case study for super volcano? It's not in the revision guide but it's in the textbook

It was kind of on last year's paper though so I wouldn't learn it if I were you.
