Such a dull module, can't wait to get it out of the way. I really hope we don't get one of those contingency tables with 12 cells...

Most of it especially the cumulative distribution functions

Yes, but even for 9/10 marks they take so long to do and it's easy to make small errors. A nice 3 x 2 table would be perfect..

Kinda looking forward to this module now. Sure, it's dull, but it's a really nice 90+ UMS to prop up my further maths module. Sitting it immediately after Mechanics, so will be a nice exam to sit after that, just got to keep stupid mistakes at bay.

Can someone help me with question http://store.aqa.org.uk/qual/gceasa/...W-QP-JAN09.PDF 7c?
I understood up to F(4)-F(3), but why do you then divide that by F(4)? And what does | mean? Do I need to understand those probabilities in formulae booklet page 10 for it or no? Because I forgot them from s1, and we didn't go through them, and I don't even have s1 book anymore. I mean the ones like (AuB) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A upside down U B) ?

I think it is the probability of ... given ..., just memorise the method for all questions like this that have come up by using the mark scheme, and chances are one of those will come up tomorrow and you'll be ready

Well I can't memorize if I don't understand it, I will just make stupid mistakes if I will start applying a rule without knowing how to use it.

Anyone help me with question 5)C)ii) dont get why it isn;t 1-(x<or equal to 4) as they only input 0,1,2,3 into the poisson formula why not 4?

Part c)ii) is asking you to work out the probability that an engineer is not available to visit. It is nicer to think of this as

    1 - P(Engineer able to visit)

If an engineer is able to visit, there must have been fewer than 4 calls between 10am and 11am, as you stated in part c)i). This makes the probability that an engineer is unable to visit as

    1 - P(Y<4)

where Y is the number of calls per hour. This can be re-expressed as

    1 - ((P(Y=0) + P(Y=1) + P(Y=2) + P(Y=3))

    so only 0, 1, 2 and 3 are used.

I hope this answered your question. If it didn't, reply back and I'll see what else I can do.

    Good luck tomorrow afternoon
