Re: Favourite Beatles song.
I take this question seriously and I have heard all of their albums:
Paperback Writer
I saw her standing there
If I needed someone
Think for yourself
Taxman
She Said She Said
A Day in the Life
Magical Mystery Tour
Blue Jay Way
I am the walrus
Baby you're a rich man
Back in the USSR
Martha my dear
Oh Darling!
Any choice from side 2 of Abbey Road e.g. Sun King
Across the universe
Free as a bird
As you may tell I am a Harrison fan (and have little or no time for the general public's blind adoration of most of McCartney's sentimental anthems, no matter how catchy they may be). Even so I have generally picked some of his less well known numbers rather than Something or While my guitar gently weeps which are good but not 'Beatles' enough for me.
I love all the above songs which are all of superb merit with none necessarily superior to the others. I'd love to pick Blue Jay Way, which divides opinion but which I think is Harrison's - and The Beatles- most haunting, mystical beautiful, song. However to pick one that matches genius with being well known, I pick I am the walrus which features some exceptional sound effects and is a great example of Lennon's lyrical wordplay.Last edited by Picnic1; 05-06-2012 at 00:41. -
Re: Favourite Beatles song.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Ticket to Ride.
In My Life.
Eleanor Rigby.
Come Together.
Strawberry Fields Forever.
Love Me Do.
Hard Days Night.
With a Little Help from my Friends.
Hello Goodbye.
When Im SixtyFour.
Hey Bulldog.
Managed to Narrow it down to 12! theres plenty more though! Can't pick one from these.. I tried and couldn't!
EDIT: I sorta love taxman, but only because of the bassline.. I much prefer The Jam - Start, which uses the same bassline.Last edited by Ravondo666; 05-06-2012 at 00:53. -
Re: Favourite Beatles song.
I can't pick one for the life of me, and that's the honest truth. I just love every song so much. Some days I feel like listening to Anytime At All on repeat, while other days I'd prefer something a little slower.
Saying that - if I ever had a wedding ceremony, Something would be my wedding song.

I'm a Harrison fan too. I love 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' but I never class it as a Beatles. It's George's song to me. I agree about Paul singing Hey Jude/Let It Be like national anthems even though they are amazing songs. I wonder if him and Ringo, as the surviving Beatles, would even sing some of the Beatles back catalogue together? I'd love to see it happen.(Original post by Picnic1)
