Does Open University funding count towards your quota?
Hi all, let me firstly explain my situation as it stands. I want to go back to university and do a degree, but having already completed a 2 year HND in 2005, i can only get funding for years 2 and 3 of a degree. However, in 2008 i decided to take on an open university degree, of which i had my fees paid for me, but had to pull out mid way through my second year due to medical reasons. Will this mean i wont be able to get funding for the 2nd and 3rd years of a degree, does it count towards my 'quota'? I did tell the guy at student finance about it when asking about what loans i could get but he only mentioned the HND being a factor, but theres obviously a possibility he didnt hear me, or forgot to take the open uni stuff into account.
Thanks for any help. -
Re: Does Open University funding count towards your quota?
Hi
Open university fees are not taken into consideration no. It was classed as part-time study and as such was funded from a different pot of money. I think the rules have changed as of last year due to the fee increases and it may well all be funded from the same source now.
I have had funding for open university courses, and was/am still entitled to full funding for a full-time degree at a brick university.
HTH.
