    Online marketing... what salary prospects?
I recently got a few interviews in the field of online marketing and the starting salaries look OK.

I am just wondering whether anyone has an idea how it will look later i.e. 5 years seniority.

The field seems to be so new that there are either not many jobs, nor much information about the payscale.

Online Marketing has been about since birth of google really.

SEO jobs which is Marketing websites with 'Google Juice' which I sure you know all about. However SEO can be paid couple thousands pound just for one project.

As online marketing and the relevant techniques evolve, so will the pay depending on your experience. The minimum level of skill required to break into an entry level role is constantly increasing because there are so many graduates looking to break into the sector.

With respect to salary, if you carry out SEO in addition to professional web development, the prospects are decent, above the 25k region as a starting salary, and if you look on job sites, you will find SEO / web development professionals being paid over 40k within 5 years at a minimum depending on the particular role. Those positions are not easy to get into, and from my perspective as an SEO consultant, I think it is a good idea to learn basic web development techniques, such as how to install a WordPress website onto someone's web server (host).

Online marketing is the future, IMO. Everything is online. SEO is in demand - everyone wants to be 'the top of Google'. Our agency gets paid quite a lot PM for SEO projects at the moment. Copywriting, email campaigns, social media - it's all relevant.

As Generalist said, the more you know the more you'll be paid. Keep on top of new developments, take on additional courses (CIM for example) and you'll be paid accordingly.

Absolutely! We do a lot of website builds and SEO comes as part of that afterwards. It can be interesting, it can be boring, but whatever keeps the business going is fine by me
