    New Trainers - Need Suggestions!
Hi guys, apologies for the unimaginative thread title. :indiff:

I'm pretty fond of skate shoes for everyday wear, but since the last few pairs haven't been lasting that long, I thought it might be time for a change. My main complaint is that the soles aren't that thick and don't have any grip - I do a lot of walking at university, so they wear down fairly quickly and are a nightmare to wear when it rains.

In terms of criteria, I need something:
    • Durable
    • Decent grip
    • Doesn't get/look grubby easily
    • Goes with most colours (so no black and orange please!)

    My budget's about £25 - I'd appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks.

25 quid can buy you a pair, but I don't think it'll last you. Converse are pretty durable, go with most outfits and colours. The leather ones are 40 to 50 quid and the canvas ones are 30 to 40.

Yeah, I was over in the States a few weeks ago so I got a couple of pairs of Converse, although I'd prefer to keep them for "smart casual" if possible. By the way, any suggestions on how to get rid of the squeak? I've tried using talc but it doesn't seem to last - may be time to get some thinner socks! :p:

Trainers for sport or trainers for fashion?

For £25, I would just go to Brantano and see what you like the look of if I were you.

    Also converse smart casual? Wtf?

Of the two, probably fashion. In terms of what I meant by the Converse, "smart casual" probably wasn't the right term. I'll wear them for going out with my friends and stuff, but I don't wanna trash them by wearing them in mud and stuff because they're nice shoes, is all. :dontknow:

Ah yes, you meant wear them casually rather than functionally.

Omg I have the same problem, usually if I tie my laces tighter, the squeak goes. But it's really annoying, especially in a silent study area...
