Re: My next-gen consolesIt's not elitist, it's perfectly true. I could build a £300 pc for gaming today that will equal hardware capabilities of the next gen game consoles. They've already had the graphics chips they're going to use leaked.(Original post by like a boss)
Gotta love these elitist bellends.Last edited by Rainingshame; 10-06-2012 at 14:10. -
Re: My next-gen consolesBoth the PS3 and 360 use 720p for gaming, If you use a TV where it tells you what resolution is being used you would know. The marketplace and playstation thing(i'm not a console gamer) both use 1080p but the GAMING is always 720p.(Original post by harreeeee)
Well, the Xbox 360 and PS3 brought 1080p support to games consoles. But there is no better standard as of yet, so I don't think a new games console will bring much more to the market at the moment. We need a better standard of resolution with TVs that support it. Possibly 3D support but its a bit of a gimmick. -
Re: My next-gen consolesOn your PC, or console?(Original post by Tootles)
I was playing games in resolutions higher than that long before 1080p came out. -
Re: My next-gen consolesYeah I was talking about the games console market. I am aware of monitors with greater resolutions than 1080p, but I am not aware of any TV sets that have better than 1080p. And most people use games consoles on TV sets not monitors I'm assuming.(Original post by joey11223)
actually PC gamers have been used a better standard then 1080p, if they so choose to buy a monitor which supports above it, for a little while now. The "more then HD" monitors offer resolutions like 2560x1600, first came out in 07 but are getting more standard with gamers who have the budget. 1920x1080 was the standard for a while but going above that general HD standard gives a much better picture apparently, not got one myself mind. -
Re: My next-gen consolesOh right, interesting. I guess with the next gen consoles they will just add 1080p game support then(Original post by Rainingshame)

Remember when this deformed monstrosity was being considered as a PS3 controller?

Re: My next-gen consolesIt was like a freaking boomerang or something. Try and throw it away when you rage quit, it might come flying back.(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)

Re: My next-gen consolesBattlefield 2 on PC could do this 10 years ago!!(Original post by Miss Trololol)
If the next Xbox could support a 32 a-side Battlefield game at 60 FPS, then I'll be a happy bunny. -
Re: My next-gen consoles
Sony most certainly won't be making PS Home a central thing. That's pretty much their dirty secret at this point, something everyone forgot about.
I don't think the next console will be download only, because the internet still isn't good enough for large chunks of the world. I imagine it will use flash media, or some such storage. However, the console after that one will probably be download only. -
Re: My next-gen consolesSorry, I don't think I was clear enough. What I meant was I would love to see Battlefield 3 graphics with 32 a-side at 60 FPS on the new Xbox.(Original post by harreeeee)

Re: My next-gen consolesOh sorry I must have misread I thought you were saying there aren't commercially available options for above 1080p in the market (for console or PC).(Original post by harreeeee)
Yeah I was talking about the games console market. I am aware of monitors with greater resolutions than 1080p, but I am not aware of any TV sets that have better than 1080p. And most people use games consoles on TV sets not monitors I'm assuming.
I think some people do game on monitors, but obviously that generally limits you to 26" or less and quite a few retail stores don't even offer that big, above that a HDTV is going to be cheaper generally.
I don't quite understand why monitors have had above 1080p resolutions for some time, albeit being quite pricey, when even more expensive TV sets don't seem to offer it. I mean a 26" HDTV and a 26 "monitor aren't exactly that different. -
Re: My next-gen consolesThe cost of producing a large screen that has a large pixel density would be too pricey at the moment I think.(Original post by joey11223)

Also, all movies and TV shows are max 1080p, so producing a TV set that goes beyond this would only be useful if you connect it to a PC, bit of a niche market. As soon as they start releasing movies and TV shows in greater than 1080p, they will make TV sets for it, I'm guessing. -
Re: My next-gen consolessounds garbage.(Original post by Tootles)
Do you have any idea how much hardware was required to produce Avatar? To get that in a tabletop console you'd need quantum, and that's not going on a desktop any time soon.
Next generation will be all HD with even more buttons and maybe touchscreens on the controllers, but then Nintendo will probably still be ahead on that one. XBox 720 might have 3D, Playstation 4 definitely will. XBox will possibly have the option of using a tablet as a controller alongside the Kinect. They'll probably extend the cloud features of the XBox 720 even more too, but I can't say. -
Re: My next-gen consolesAh yes. The banana controller. I'm grateful it didn't make it past the drawing board. Then again, we did get the Playstation Move so I wouldn't rule out some kind of gimmick hitting the shops for the next gen console. I think it would put Sony in a stronger position actually if they didn't release another console to be honest. The PS3 doesn't perform at full graphical capacity at present (as far as I'm aware) so perhaps Sony could work with developers at getting content to that level. Surely releasing a new console is unnecessary (in terms of computational ability anyway).(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)

Re: My next-gen consolesI doubt it, although it saddens me to say it, console it still so far behind PC. It would be great, but I can't see it happening. In all honesty I don't know the reason why, I just know that the 360 was so far off that, it seems like too big of a jump right now.(Original post by Miss Trololol)

Re: My next-gen consolesYou say this however in relation to console gamers there are barely any pc gamers...its a lot easier to buy a console and a lot cheaper, to get a god pc rig it will cost a fair penny, and will probably cost the same as a console if you want the specs to be equal. You also cant be sociable with your 'real' friends with a PC, as you can do say 4 player fifa or something....(Original post by Benthomas15)
I think the next-gen consoles will still be years behind in terms of what a PC can offer.
