Re: Which political party do you support (if any) and why?
I don't support a particular party, but I fully admit that this is partly due to my naivety when it comes to the realms of politics- I'd rather not make a judgement rather than make a misinformed one.
One of my aims this summer is to gain at least a basic understanding of politics, not only of this country but worldwide politics, so that if I do decide to support a party in the future, I can do so knowing that I've done a bit of research at least. -

I am a Conservative and it is because I find my beliefs and views more in tune with those expressed within the Conservative Party ranks. I also find a lot of my views expressed within the United Kingdom Independence Party, however, I think they, currently, lack the credibility and size to be truly worth my vote. (also I want a career in politics

Re: Which political party do you support (if any) and why? While I wouldn't stick strongly by the results, a good start is to try these tests:(Original post by llacerta)

They should give you an idea of where you stand politically, though they aren't perfect and personal grievances with parties, or particular issues you feel extremely strongly on can colour your views (eg I am closest to Lib Dem on the compass, but disagree strongly on the EU, an issue I feel is very important so I would not vote for them) -
I used to consider myself almost socialist, aligning myself with SWP, but that was when I had very little knowledge of politics. About a year own it's still rudimentary but I would say I am centre right, probably conservatives. I cannot stand most of the Labour cabinet, especially Ed, out of nothing more at the moment than personal dislike. It's not a very good way to view politics at all but I feel more secure with the coalition than anything else at this point.

Re: Which political party do you support (if any) and why?
I would (and used to) support the lib dems, but I'm not sure who to vote for come next election after the whole tuition fees debacle. Call me petty minded, but that broken promise effectively cost over £50,000 to my family (£24000 + a much less favourable loan arrangement) to me personally, and showed that education is not a priority for this government.
Excluding that, I agree with the lib dems on most other things: fairness, EU etc., though I do support trident. I would probably describe myself as centre-left.
It will probably come down to who the candidates are this year, but probably will be labour, lib dems or perhaps the greens depending on where I'm voting. -
Re: Which political party do you support (if any) and why?
So if I state I'm conservative I'm negged, well this is fair there are clearly some totalitarian trolls on this page afraid of someone having a different opinion to them. I am a conservative, Also for future note you can't accuse them of being elitist as that would be like me accusing a man of being a man, likewise with universities, it's just stupid to make such a statement. I vote conservative because they have consecutively managed to save the country (in the past mind you) from economic downturn, I also detest the power unions have and I hate the terribly PC manner Britain has adopted, at the moment they clearly aren't doing all they should be, in David Cameron' words 'I would rule like a true Tory if I weren't in a coalition' the fact that Labour are saying they haven't lived up to their promises is hypocritical considering the actual figures show the deficit has been reduced to 70billion from 150, Of course I'll get the link for this(not from the Tory website) the whole controversy about student finance was also bull**** as the conservatives have given us a much better deal with increased maintenance loans, the fact the poor think they are the worst off is also very annoying as It's the middle class which are, we are taxed more than you, no one can complain in this country especially about things like pension age, the standard of living has increased that people live longer plus the fact it;s a luxury not a right. What we call poverty in this country is also pathetic and people have no real grasp of it. I'm also fully aware of life not being fair and everyone is far from equal, the elite are simply hard wired for a better life
