What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get?
Welcome to Loughborough University: where prospective and current students can discuss everything from being a drinking university with a sporting problem to why everyone wears flip flops in winter.

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get? They limit the number of people on each course who can go in each hall (as well as male/female I think) so you don't end up with halls that are all completely full of people doing the same course or like 90/10 male to female(Original post by mrshinyshoes)
I wanted telford but it wasn't available for my course, whats all that about :s

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get? You've probably got a decent chance through the preference system. I think Telford is one of the halls that doesn't tend to be oversubscribed.(Original post by KazMan)

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get?Apparently everyone is finding it so hard to get anything now so pretty good that we woke up for it. You never know we could end up room mates in a few months.. lol!(Original post by llpretoria)

Harry French halls- Loughborough Uni
So at 9 today I tried to get the halls that I wanted and instead the only one I could get was Harry French because a soon a I clicked on the others they disappeared! I'm trying to think positive, I have somewhere to live, but does anyone no anything about it? How nice it is, whether people are social like they are meant to be in the other halls because it is kinda far away from them?!

Re: Harry French halls- Loughborough UniHey, I'm currently a first year and I know a few people at Harry French and tbh, it's actually pretty nice. It's a decent price too because the location isn't amazing, so the only issue is that if you're doing something that requires you to be down by the West side (like Engineering, Physics or Maths), it's a long walk, so that's not too fun. Having said that, they're testing out a system of free on-campus buses this term, so if that continues next year, you could always use them on horrible weather days and such. So yeah, the worst thing is the distance.(Original post by Josie M)

Other than that, it's actually a pretty nice hall. They tend to be quite social and while the location to lectures isn't too nice, you'll be closer to town and therefore it's pretty handy being 5mins from Sainsburys and all. Also you're in the middle of the SU and town, so it's pretty good for nightlife, unlike say DC where you have to trek ages to even get to the SU.
Don't worry about it - whichever hall you end up in, it will be generally the same. The only big difference between halls is catered or non-catered as with non-catered, you see people a bit less, so it can be harder to socialise, but there are enough events throughout freshers and all to sort that out

Re: Harry French halls- Loughborough Uniyeh this happened to me the halls I wanted had gone, so I had to go for william morris, which is off campus as well, but by the looks of it it's not too bad being closer to the shops and the students union i guess(Original post by Josie M)

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get?Happened to me too :/ Apparantly they block people due to ratios of course type and gender which I guess is a good idea, but it would've been nice if they told us first without having to login to find your 1st choice is just gone :/(Original post by MissDamiDams)
I don't really get it .. I chose 'Preffered Option' and they just asked me to but the area and whether I want en-suite or not.
. I really wanted Bakewell or Billmo but it wasn't on my list for some reason?

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get?
I signed in at 9 and found that the 2 I wanted (rigg-rut or bakewell) were both gone already and I was basically left with Harry French as the best looking non-catered option. I had no idea what it was like because I hadn't even considered it and in my panic to pick one I just went for it, only to find out it had no en-suite, which I was gutted about
Least it's saving me like £1,500 though! I'm doing geography, but I've read that Harry French is mainly art students. What course is everyone else on?

Re: What accommodation for Loughborough did we all get?Exactly the same as me! Was looking for self catered with ensuite but logged on at 9 and top choices weren't there. Have been told though that Harry French is a good option as close to SU and town as well as main lecture theatres so can't be too bad! I'm doing Retail and Marketing(Original post by hannahc16)
