Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: Philosophy
If anyone decided to look at my notes, I actually made a mistake in the `Useful Quotes - Religion and Science` section. There is a quote for Sir Francis Bacon, which is completely wrong. It should actually be `Proverbs 25:2`, and should say `It is the glory of a God to conceal a thing, but the glory of a king to search it out`.

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: PhilosophyI'm not sure, I thought Ethics was much easier to revise for (just quotes and examples), and I found the exam pretty straight forward too, apart from one question 'How would a Muslim challenge inequality?' WTH?! But i went and spoke to my teacher and everything I wrote for it was apparently right? Whereas Philosophy has more depth to it I think, but everyone is different(Original post by squirrels)
I think Philosophy will be much easier than the Ethics. The ethics one went terrible for me. I mean, "State two types of racism" WTH?

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: PhilosophyHaha, I noticed that, I read it over again 5 times trying to figure out the difference between the two parts of that sentence! I realised it was a mistake and was going to post it, but you got there before me :P(Original post by Abbas.Akram)

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: PhilosophyYeah, for ethics, you do have a lot of evidence to support your answers. I guess I'm more passionate about Philosophy so I've done more work for it(Original post by WeasleyIsOurKing)

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: Philosophy
Tomorrow I got Good and Evil and Religion and science! Both of these seem O.K. once you get familiar with the stuff you need to know! I just keep reading over it then going away and seeing all I can recall. Also I do part E questions and my teacher always says.... write your opinion, write how some people agree, and some people disagree. And just stuff some quotes in there!
I think Ethics went bad for me but I really should have revised more for that I just focused on other subjects more... (Biology) *cough*.
DO MIND MAPS AND POST-ITS.
And slurp tea.

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: PhilosophyYeah when I noticed I had like a massive cringe moment - how did I not notice that when I wrote it lol?? :P And the moral of the story is...read your own notes!(Original post by WeasleyIsOurKing)

Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: Philosophy
anyone have any predictions about what may come upon the beliefs about deity section? or end of life? i think maybe something about explaining the importance of jesus' teachings, or the importance of the holy spirit or something? for the 12 marks, they're quite hard to predict in this exam, the ethics was easier :/

Yeaaaah I am also doing these topics..what do you think the (e) questions will be about?

i have no idea actually! just been doing questions my teacher has made up! yeah... hope its easy! -
Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: PhilosophyTake a look at my link which I posted before on religion and science - there is a section on Islam in there, as well some quotes :P(Original post by Tplox)
anyone have any notes for religion and science islam?
A brief summary would be to say that science can be seen as the study of nature, and nature is linked heavily to the idea of Tawhid (the oneness of God). For that reason there is an almost sacred element to the pursuit of knowledge, as any discoveries made are regarded as proof of the existence of Allah. Essentially, science and Islam go hand in hand, with the Quran making many references to science throughout - it even details the development of a foetus! Hope this helps and good luck with the exam tomorrow! :P -
Re: GCSE OCR Religious Studies B: Philosophy
I do full course RE, and i did the sections, Beliefs about Deity, Religious and Spiritual Experiences (b601) and Good and Evil, Religion and Science (B602). I thought it went really well, the 12 mark questions weren't easy, but they weren't hard either and we do-able. I found that i whizzed through that exam, usually when we do practices in class I just about finish, whereas as for this exam and my ethics one I had about half and hour all the my last D) question. Oh well, it went well, I hope I got my A or A*!!! How did everyone else find it?
-
I found it easier than the ethics .... I did Sections A and C for both papers ..... What about you? I thought the religion and science was quite precise and didnt allow for arguments from Dawkins and Darwin? Did anyone get question a) for section A in paper 2 .... Asking which word for 'no unchanging self' ..?

I did exactly the same sections but I did full course too(Original post by AngryBirds4)
Agreed
I'm only doing the short course, and I did sections A and C (belief about deity and life after death). Anybody else?
think the paper was rather kind reallyyyy

That's exactly what I wrote(Original post by `God)
For the question "what is meant by the term deity" I wrote "the belief in God, a supreme being" would that get the marks?
