Re: Need new clothes!!
I gave up trying to find cheap well-fitting trousers and have lived in skirts for sixth form. Depending on your figure, a full/a-line/stretchy tube skirt with a top/shirt is great. I wear a lot of loose shirts (check or floral - less old lady than it sounds) with vest tops and flared skirts and I'm fairly hourglass in shape.

Re: Need new clothes!!
There's quite a lot you can do with business-casual.
Black skirts come in all different shapes, you will be able to find one that suits your body shape. If you are slightly top-heavy then a tube skirt may not be the best option, instead go for a loose fitting one that will sway out a little from your figure, cinched in, patterned to help balance you out a bit more.
Sharp blazers over skinny jeans look good, you can pick up from lots of different stores on the High Street as they are still fairly in demand.
Blouses always look smart, since you describe yourself as top heavy, go for plain blouses as patterns will only unbalance your figure further.
For cheap clothes, I suggest....
- Dorothy Perkins: good for shoes and blouses
- Miss Selfridge: ok, not the cheapest store, but you can pick up some bargains and their jeans are very good fitting.
- New Look: I work here so I am a little biased, but they do have really good offers on all the time! A large range of cheap jeans and lots of blouses etc. Also there is a "smart and chic" range with lots of blazers, skirts, blouses, etc.
- H&M are good for blazers and the basics like tees and tanks.
I recommend searching the internet for online vouchers! You can often find money-off vouchers to print off and use on the high street! Just Google "voucher codes" etc and you should find some.
Hope this helps...

Did you read the OP at all? Your suggestions are nice, but half of them include jeans or shops like DP of miss selfridges which are expensive.(Original post by emilie18)

OP, yeah look for voucher codes as the kind of clothes you're after are a tad more expensive than jeans and a t-shirt.
And because it's business casual, you could probably get away with coloured trousers as long as they look reasonably smart and aren't creased. I hate wearing a lot of black, so this is what I would go for, especially if you're not a skirt kind of person. Or if you do have a black/grey skrit, you could get a nice pair of coloured tights. If your budget is quite tight then peacocks do some quite smart tops, trousers, skirts and cardigans. Although they're not of the best quality. -

Oops about the jeans, but yes I did read the OP. Hence why I acknowledged the fact that Miss Selfridge isn't the cheapest store!... Dorothy Perkins is actually a fairly cheap store, not the cheapest but cheaper than Miss Selfridge, Next, Topshop, etc. Their sales are always very good and they often have good offers on. They also accept student discount and sometimes have 20% student discount on offer which is worth taking advantage of!!
So just replace "jeans" with skinny-fit or tailored trousers. You can pick these up in most places in their "smart" sections, for instance New Look sell slim fit trousers that look like smart skinnies but are not denim. Alternatively wear chinos, dark blue and black would look smart with a skinny belt and blouse. New Look sell chinos like this for £12, and I believe H&M also sell a decent range of chinos. Both are fairly good quality, H&M less so but still not bad! Personally I would avoid Peacocks as the quality has never been good, but for the basics like tanks etc might be worth a go.
You could always go hunting for bargains in charity or vintage stores! Honestly you can pick up some lovely, unique stuff for just a couple of pounds. TKMaxx is also worth a go, most of the stuff is bad but there are rare gems in there too, haha.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, we have to look formal; school rules. Its a high school with a sixth form so they said we need to be "good role models" for the lower years.(Original post by yothi5)

Re: Need new clothes!!
As well as buying new clothes you could also use some of your old ones for 'smart casual'. For a start you can wear your current school trousers/skirt. You've also probably got some plain tops or ones with a nice simple pattern on that you could wear and some styles of summer dress can count as smart-casual for the warmer weather. If you're unsure about anything either try to imagine a teacher wearing it to work or ask your parents if they think it's suitable.
For new stuff though I would suggest Primark, Tesco and Asda as the main places. You can also look for second-hand items in charity shops or on eBay, though you'd have to get your parents or someone else to bid for you on eBay. -
Re: Need new clothes!!
You could wear leggings and a tunic like this http://www.yumidirect.co.uk/women/swan-print-tunic.html and some ankle boots. My school is introducing a business casual sixth form dress code this year but I can't see it working out

Re: Need new clothes!!
I lived in dresses for most of upper 6th; so much easier to plan an outfit if it's a dress, plus if you buy good ones they can be worn all sorts of different ways (with a belt, without a belt, with coloured tights, with different jackets, etc). I had a lot of jumper-dresses and smart-casual black dresses, mostly from New Look and H&M; a decent one will probably cost you about £15-£20 but like I say, buy wisely and accessorize and you won't feel bad about being in the same outfit all the time XD
Our school never had a buisness-casual dress code but as it happens that's sort of my dressing style anyway, and in the last week of term our adorable head of 6th form came up to me in the corridor and commented on how well I dressed and said I was a role-model for the other 6th formrs :L it was the sweetest thing, but goes to show - you don;t have to wear some horrid pantsuit or hard-to-put-together outfit to be smart :3 -
Re: Need new clothes!!
okay i think you should get some smart black trousers and a skirt! then you can change the tops to get a different look everytime you wear them! you could go for something like this in the winter http://www.bravesoul.co.uk/shop/clot...olour=CHARCOAL and in the summer you can wear shiffon shirts
