Yep, Hamilton looks strong around Montreal, as always.

But this circuit rewards cars with good top speeds too so Mercedes will be right up there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Schumi winning this race either..

I was shocked when Pirelli announced the Super-Softs and Softs for this race. I can see the teams struggling with the tyres more so than at any point so far this year.

As for the win, I'd say both Merc and Lotus are looking good and if McLaren can get their act together they'll also be in the running.

    Should be a great race...

No practise/Qualifying/race times in UK timezone in the OP? Terribles...

I can't believe how perfect this is.. exams end and I can relax the weekend after with the Canadian GP! I don't even miss anything on Friday as FP1 is at 3pm GMT! The only way it could get better is if I was actually going to the grand prix, but sadly not.. one day though..

As for the race, I really don't know. Its difficult to call. Mercedes and Lotus will probably be very strong though. McLaren could be strong, though I'm uncertain now as to how quick the McLaren is.. There's still a pretty good chance of getting a 7th different winner too, with Lewis, Schumi, Kimi and Grosjean yet to win.

Apparently there will only be one DRS zone at Canada this time, which is an improvement; two zones were far too much last year.

    From Autosport.com:
The zone will become active after Turn 10 and will begin 600 metres before the braking zone for Turn 13. It has also been shortened by 50 metres since last year and is now a total of 600m long.

It was reduced in length after it was considered too easy to overtake through the section in last year's race.

The second DRS zone on the start-finish line has now been dropped.

Fancy a Schumacher win here, if his car doesn't let him down again. He's on a high after pole in Monaco and that'll certainly give him confidence for the next few races - Schumacher won 7 times at Montréal. Would also love to see a Lotus win, preferably Kimi, but it seems like Grosjean might have the edge.

Can't wait, hoping Kimi/Roman get their first win here but as ever this season there is a lot of weight on the lottery of the tires.

Really, really excited for this race. It's consistently been one of if not the most entertaining GP of the calender the past few years. Hopefully the tyre nonsense doesn't make it a cruise-show.

I reckon it will be a fight between Merc and Hamilton.

In other news, the Codemasters F1 2012 preview is out, a lap around the new Texas circuit!

It's not the finished product but knowing how awful Codemasters have been with F1, I think they'll just slapped on some new livery on the F1 2011 game.

The video shows you can adjust brake bias during a lap so that's a good new addition.

For simulator fans, I recommend you check out the C.A.R.S project. Insane quality and attention to detail, makes Codemasters look like a bunch of amateurs.

Mercedes should be strong here, over 60% of the lap can be completed using DRS and it's well documented how strong they are in that area. Hopefully Hamilton can also put in a good performance - the track's emphasis on braking and tight cornering plays to his strengths - the results of previous years show enough evidence to support this (I feel he could have got a great result last year as he was visibly quicker than Button in the full wet conditions).
I am however glad that the FIA have chosen to tone down the frankly overpowered DRS zones we glimpsed in the dry finale to the race last year. It should be an interesting one!

After the shambles of F1 2011 I decided that I wouldn't bother with F1 2012, and it looks like not much will be missed. As you say, the game is pretty much the same as F1 2011, bar a few changes. If not much is changed, then I think it might be because they're working on a new game engine, just for F1, for the next gen consoles - basically, F1 2012 will just be a re-hash of F1 2011 without a lot of significant work done.

C.A.R.S. looks amazing. Graphically and simulation wise. So does GTR3 and rFactor also looks pretty good even though I haven't tried it yet. I reckon GTR3 and C.A.R.S. are a must buy, rFactor 2 depends on the quality of the mods that come out and that could be a year or two at least.

:coma: That looks and sounds amazing! I've just got simraceway, seems okay, haven't had a PC driving sim before so no idea how it compares. Only got it as I won a simraceway s1 wheel (below) and it is free initially (have to buy extra cars and tracks though). Its really well built. But not having it supported and having paddles for throttle takes some getting used to.

    Spoiler:
    Show

Hoping for a Ferrari win this weekend, wouldn't surprise me to see Mercedes and Redbull being difficult to beat. Hopefully the DRS doesn't make it stupidly easy to pass like last year.

This is awesome! Still long way to go but the corner turn in is better than other games..

Our favorite money grabbing **** is at it again:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012...a-one-free-bbc

I think we all knew it wouldn't be long until we no longer have free to air F1 but still.

It annoys me the most that the BBC refused to let C4 have the deal to look after its commercial interest, not as if it's a public institution or anything.

Man, Bernie, I know you're kind of a hateful little troll but that's so many half-truths and outright lies I don't know where to start. Comparing Sky's reach to the BBC's viewing figures is weak. The actual numbers are even right there: the BBC even on delayed coverage is attracting 4 to 5 times Sky's live figures in terms of actual viewing numbers rather than 'how many houses get this' (which the BBC also kinda wins by default, being receivable by pretty much every household in the UK). People don't want to watch non-live coverage? Yeah, right...

At this point I'd honestly be less annoyed at him if he just said 'the BBC can't pay me what I want for this', that'd at least be honest.

 That is really awesome. How did you win the wheel?

Simraceway is also pretty good. I haven't really tried it properly, but it felt pretty good when I played it.

Radiolemans held a competition with simraceway during the Nurburgring 24 hour race a few weeks ago. Think they gave 4 of them away over the course of the race. And with my bad luck I missed them announcing me as a winner due to having dinner Its a bit weird not having any feedback even just a rumble like with playstation joypads when you are spinning up the tyres or losing grip.

Anyoen noticed how high the wing mirrors are being mounted on the cars now? I'm guessing they are used to push air down over the sidepods to the exhaust/diffuser area.

Nice! Sucks not having FFB but a free wheel is still pretty awesome. Its better than a PS3 controller..

Yeah. I don't know how long I will use/keep it for. Needs internet access and the PC at home isn't powerful enough to run the game. Plus I prefer to game on a console and it can't be used on consoles. Should work with all PC games though.
