M95 - Motion on BBC coverage of the Jubilee river pageant
M95 - Motion on BBC coverage of the Jubilee river pageant, barnetladThis House notes the errors and dumbed down coverage of the Jubilee river pageant on June 3rd, and thinks that the BBC should be censured. The producers and presenters should be required to face the stocks at the Tower of London, with Boris Johnson choosing who should throw the wet sponges given his love for BBC journalists. Sophie Raworth can be granted exemption providing she stops grinning for thirty seconds and expresses an opinion in public for the first time.

Aye! In all seriousness, the commentary was poor. You had Matt Baker who has an annoying voice and seems to harp on every minute about Strictly Come Dancing; Tess Daley who spent all her time dancing or nattering inanely to some idiot that she picked out from the crowd; Anneka Rice who grinned continually, went on about naming whatever bridge she was on 'craft bridge' as if it was a wonderfully inspired idea and spoke and look like she was eating something, Huw Edwards who did very little in all honesty; Angelica Bell who just happened to be at a maternity ward (and spent all her time trying to make the term Jubilee baby stick in much the same was as Millennium Baby has - she failed though) and the rest of the BBC morons who all seemed to have been conveniently picked. Poor commentary, poor hosting and some god awful annoying people. I don't even consider this a joke motion considering how bad the coverage was.

    Rant over!

I didn't watch any of it and I'm glad they cacked it up. Anyone actually bothered by this should be far more concerned that while this was underway a massive plane crash occurred in Nigeria, killing 153 people. It was bumped to the back of the news for some entitled old bag's diminutive boat parade. Astounding how weird people's priorities are. The news is not supposed to be entertainment.

I didn't watch any of it, did they really use Fearne Cotton at one point? Because that truly would be scraping the barrell.

I think we should focus more on the events of the day and celebrate the queen's 60 years on the throne, and forget any coverage.

The majority of British people I believe would rather have had the Boat Parade as the main item of news.

As I said, "Astounding how weird people's priorities are." The news isn't set by what people want to hear, either.

Oh yes the bell ringing piece. Truly abysmal work from him. There was also the presenter who told us about her dad being on one of the ships.

No. I don't have the time or inclination to debate these frivolous motions.

I watched it for 2 minutes, had to turn it off because it was so cringeworthingly cheesy.

It's an aye from me, however the speaker referred to this deadly serious motion as a joke and as such I have no choice but no request his immediate resignation.

Didn't watch it, but I agree with JKPC - the news should be important, not reduce things like the Nigerian plane crash to a one sentence bit tagged on at the end while paying full attention to the pageant.
