Asia Pacific Studies
I was tipped by Raz that the subject had around 35 applicants this year (including me :P). I decided to take the initiative and rally everyone together within this thread, and look at what spurred them on in picking the subject. I would also like input from current students to tell us what we can expect from the first e.g. Was the course demanding? Finally, to sum up the good, the bad and the ugly of Asia Pacific studies.

Re: Asia Pacific StudiesIt does seem a lot more popular than I thought it would be aswell. Also, we're more then likely will bunch together with the TESOL bunch and others who are doing Japanese as a elective. So expect a big class for language lessons.(Original post by DJB1)
I'll be starting Asia Pacific Studies in sept, it's nice to know there are others interested in the subject and it's not completely dead! :P -
Re: Asia Pacific Studiesgreat idea!(Original post by Raz0161)
Perhaps we should set up a facebook group for it. Easier to speak to one another.

Hello(`・ω・´) I'm starting this year too (Grades permitting) So happy that a decent amount of people are doing it too, there was only 3 people at the applicant day I went too including me. How much much Japanese does everyone know already? -
Re: Asia Pacific Studies^▽^ Depends on your definition of a little though :3. Do you think they will expect us to know any thing other than Hiragana and Katakana? Because other than that I only know simple stuff and useless stuff :P(Original post by Celestial-Force)
Suukoshi :P -
Re: Asia Pacific StudiesYeah, there was only 3 people at the applicant day I went to, too! Which day did you go to? I know hiragana and katakana, I have kanji flashcards, and they look daunting! xD And useless bits I've picked up from anime and dramas :3 What about you?(Original post by UverBattleRoyale)

Re: Asia Pacific StudiesIt was really easy to learn them with flashcards I bought :P They were from amazon, about £12, but they use mnemonics which made it really easy(Original post by Celestial-Force)

Re: Asia Pacific StudiesErm it was sometime in the middle of April I think, a saturday because I went with my mum. There were two other girls so maybe it was the same day? :P and the only kanji I know is a few of the basic 50 (and I mean a few, too lazy for kanji) and kanji for stupid stuff like celebrities names :3 I know like basic introductory stuff ect and random sentences from drama's like Ore wa homo janai :P So basically useless stuff. What about you?(Original post by myheadisvacant)
