Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?not at all!! I do that to my best friend and hes a guy(Original post by Anonymous)
My best friend and I are, well, best friends. Neither of us feel anything more for the other, and we both like other people, however, we flirt quite a lot and tell each other we love each other (in a friend-type way). It's just that I'm a girl and he's a boy, and while I wouldn't even think about it with my friends who are girls, is this weird?

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend? It's just because other people find it weird that I posted it, not because I have feelings for him :')(Original post by Plums&Peaches)
If you two really had no feelings, you wouldn't be posting on here would you OP? -
Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?Do you know that he doesn't feel anything more? I think it can be quite difficult for a boy and girl to be best friends and remain best friends only, and it kind of seems like playing with fire to me. But that's just how it seems to me. I've had female best friends before who've flirted with me despite feeling nothing, and I don't really appreciate it.(Original post by Anonymous)

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend? So you haven't seen this?(Original post by Anonymous)
But neither of us feel anything more haha, is it not weird that we flirt and we're JUST friends, nothing more?

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?
Not weird at all, but (in my experience) in the majority of cases when this happens, one party actually does have feelings for the other. As long as it's an equal/ balanced relationship it's fine. But you can never be totally sure if he has underlying feelings, so you could be unintentionally leading him on. A lot of girls with best friends who are male think that the male does not feel "that way", but actually, they do. They're just not saying anything because they don't want to risk the friendship/ don't think the girl would be interested anyway/ a number of other reasons.

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?
How old are you anyway? Just seems like the kind of question a 13/14 year old girl would be asking. "OMG my best friend is male and we are sooo close and we flirt and love each other but we are like totally not attracted to each other, do you think we're like a total anomaly, surpassing the idea of social norms??!!! *giggle*" (2 months later they are an item).

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?Indeed
I had tons of friends like this back in high school/ college, the girl (for some reason it was always the girl
) thought she had a really special bond with a guy, thought they could flirt but the relationship was totally "pure" with no physical/ sexual attraction. Of course the guy was totally infatuated and thinking along totally different lines. It's by no means unusual to have a best friend of the opposite sex, but those people generally DON'T FLIRT!

Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?
This thread does such an excellent job at reflecting the ambiguity of most male/female 'best friend' relationships, where the girl is utterly convinced about the boy just looking for friendship and having no ulterior motives whatsoever, while the boy is hopelessly in love with her but hides his feelings because revealing them would result in him no longer being able to get his fix of her.
Speaking from experience here! -
Re: Is it bad that I flirt with my best friend?ahh totally forgot about that glitch. Well we can hope that if the OP goes down this path it ends like rom-com movie and not a mess.(Original post by KingMessi)
Surely the most mutually satisfying solution - until, inevitably, feelings start developing on the side of one party...
