Help an ill kid out for his GCSE History test
I have no idea. I have been very ill recently and missed the structure lessons - can anyone tell me how your structure each question? (Edexcel exam board)

I know the knowledge basics (enough to get the grade I need - 40%) - how do I structure?

Back in the day I'm pretty sure it was AQA who done it. Medicine Through Time, right? I wonder if they're still using the same study books... :moon:
That was a fair while ago though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they've changed exam boards.

You could be asked anything from Hippocrates to the Medical Renaissance and beyond. It's a pretty big area to cover.

A good way to structure any argument for an essay-based question, no matter what the subject, is:
    -Statement (your opinion)
-Argument (arguing your opinion. USE SOURCES AND FACTS TO SUPPORT YOUR STATEMENT! You'll get nowhere otherwise)
    - Conclusion (join the dots and summarise)

If you're being asked straight questions then you should provide facts as answers, which means revising. Read the book, learn the facts, regurgitate the facts, and you'll pass no problem.

Medicine through time is on OCR aswell. I think the exam boards all follow a 'Schools History Project' syllabus.

Yes I know - it's a long story... Going to help me or not, or pick faults with my thread history?
Well we can't tell you what the questions will be as the exam board wont release them till after the exam, just revise.

I was simply wondering how you'd already done GCSEs and A-levels also not entirely sure how we can help you as not entirely sure what you're asking for?

Ok, first of all - sorry for getting all defensive. I haven't done A levels - that's a situation I hope to be in, in the future - I was asking to see what universities I could get into, etc. Anyway, I want to know how u structure an answer to every question in the paper for Edexcel history GCSE. Exam technique has always let me down and I have 100% D's at the moment, I need a C to get into college.

Re: Help an ill kid out for his GCSE History test
I will help you out completely, I assume your doing edexcel GCSE History A : Unit3 (source based exam) I'm currently doing "A divided union USA 1945-70"(black power, civil rights, communism, student & women movement) which is UNIT 3C. Il make you as an exception in exchange Pray that I get an A* in the exam easily. Myself iv been working hard from day 1 currently scoring 88-92% Borderline A* I need an A* to get an A overall as I flopped my coursework my only problem is the exam is 1h 15mins whereas it takes me 1h 30mins...time management is my issue. This is my favourite subject so If I don't get an A* on this unit = A overall I'm gonna ... the examiners up lol

Normally I pray that the country fails = Low grade boundaries Its a win win situation. lol.
In my honest opinion, this unit source is based solely on how fast you can analyse various aspects of the source and make judgements instantly you have almost no time to re-read the source etc. However the other 2 essay units Unit1+Unit2 were based upon yourself reguritating the book off by heart. Just read the book twice and do every single question in the book and every past paper I myself have done that and guranteed an A* regardless of the topic as I've practiced every Question possible but time is never on my side likewise yourself. The exam is on tuesday dude you need to do LOADS OF PRACTICE....remember that this is history in the making

Well I recommend having a look at model answers on the exam board, look at past papers and the things that they mention you should include and just remember that you can always resit even though you're in your last year it's still possible.

If you're wanting to do history at college then sometimes you don't need it at GCSE (I didn't do it at GCSE) although I do know the spec thanks to my sister doing it. I did do it at A-level and got on to it because my college allowed you to do it if you had a B or above in English Lang.

Look at the link below. Might be helpful

    I would use PEE.
But then again, it's been almost a year since I last wrote an essay.
