How hard is a fine art degree?

Hi, yeh A2 art is loads of work. I also hate my teacher which doesn't help much! He's a fool and has total double standards, but anyway.....! I would love to have done photography but my college doesn't offer it. X X X

I progressed to CCAD directly from A-Level Fine Art, although aside from the predictably higher ratio of stringent formality... I wouldn't declare that to be too testing, either. It's the degree-level subject that really aims a dart towards your artistic proverbials, offering as it does the usual inpenetratable blend of unstructured, 'drifting' tutor involvement and unforgiving grade boundaries for which a degree in anything is infamous...

And Theshortlist_tom, if your recollections of former students at Green Lane happen to include Joe Ridley... well, he's plainly not summoned the strength to so much as lift a finger in effort, at degree level, save for the realisation of some curious plaster gnome and the smouldering pong of a sandwich left discarded in his studio space. Luckily out of my vicinity by some chalk. Yippee.

I sense the Bermuda Triangle must have come into Middlesbrough, for he's simply perished. And he's not alone. Never to return. Presumably.

I cant tell you alot as i dont do fine art, but my flatmate does fine art at chelsea.

she does nothing. when isay nothing, i mean nothing. socialising> yes, you'll have 10weeks a term, stressful? no.

how did she get into chelsea?! surely if she did nothing then she would get chucked out for wasting there time, well... especially since chelsea is one of the best schools for fine art. i am hoping to go there in sept for degree.
im doing art foundation at bournemouth arts institute now. it's well loadsa fun, but tiring, stressful, intense, crazy and hardly have anytime to do anything other than the work!! only do it if you really enjoy art otherwise you'll be fed up of having no not much free time. at bournemouth, the tutors are really great, funny people, very insightful and the social life if you get one (lol) !! is fantastic!! i've met so many amzing people here, from all countries. i am hoping to do fine art at chelsea next year, but am expecting it to be hard work unlike what erk said about his friend. I'm gonna miss bournemouth though!!!!!!

she's good, but good doesn't mean work when you're here. trust me, she does nothing.

Well, they would, they of the attributes of dear, overefficient little turnips. Unlike we repulsive sprouts of, erm, elsewhere.

Sigh.

btw, i went to the end of year fine art show at chelsea the other day, it wasn't too good. alot of work was blatantly copied, some ridiculous. tell me, did it take the person whos 'piece' was a room full of glitter, a year to plan/produce/think of this amazing idea?..
