Forcing sleep paralysis is actually a very good method for learning to lucid dream.
Anyone can experience sleep paralysis willingly by lying on your back and staying completely still for around 20-30 minutes before going to sleep. Eventually your brain will think you really are asleep are will naturally paralyse itself to prevent any damage to your body during the night. Of course, as you are not asleep but awake you will experience sleep paralysis before being able to enter a dream fully lucid.
When you enter sleep paralysis nearly every night it actually becomes an interesting encounter. The only thing that still gets to me is false awakenings :P -

Re: Sometimes I become paralysed when I wake upYep you're right I get this a lot when I don't sleep for long enough during the night (when i got the paralyzed feeling would usually have it 2-3 times in the morning), you said you stay up late this is a bad idea, start sleeping ealier and you won't get these affects. Hope this helps! Sleep better soon!(Original post by inadilemma)
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing it's because I haven't gone into a deep enough sleep so my body is still in the stages of sleep when my mind has woken up. When this happens I've only been asleep for about 30 mins to two hours max. A load of thoughts rush through my mind and I start to worry that I won't ever wake up and my heart starts beating really fast and the more i try and move, the more stuck I seem to be. Then try I calm myself down and wake up.
I was just wondering if there's any way I could prevent it from happening? It makes me feel so weak and helpless and it panicks me so much.
