Statistics GCSE edexcel Monday 18th June exam
    Hi everyone,

Couldn't find an active forum for this exam so thought I would start one. How is everyone getting along with their statistics revision? I am doing okay, although struggling on some parts like spearman's rank & standard deviation coz I'm teaching myself (haven't attended school in year 11 due to illness).

I have all the past papers & mark schemes from 2004 on the old spec exam and the June 2011 paper and mock paper for the new spec. Anyone wants them, just give me a shout

10 days till the exam! Please share any resources you have with me, they would be very much appreciated!

    Sarah

I'm also taking this exam next week.
From what i've intrepreted from the last 8 years of exams papers of this that I've seen, the most likely topics are:

-Understanding what is meant by a sample.[and the difefrent types of samples, EG. stratified]
-Understanding data and it's advantages and disadvantages [This includes primary and secondary, continous and discrete, quantative & qualitative]
    -misleading charts/diagrams
-time series graphs, moving averages & seasonal variation etc.
-Scatter graphs-describing correlation in graphs and plotting mean points.
    -interpreting tables
    -percentages
    -two-way tables
    -probabaility. [Binomial distrubution,tree diagrams]
-Understanding advantages and disadvantages of a questionarrie against an interveiw
    -Suitable questionnare question
-Comparing sitrubutions shown through boxplots[imcluding work about boxplots]
-Finding the estimated mean, median & mode from a frequency table.
    -Comparative pie charts
    -Histograms
-Spearmans rank correlation Co-effcient and Normal distrubution
-Capture/re-capture & Index numbers & Chain Base Index numbers

^^ that's it [I think].That's the simpliest list I can put it into. Good with revising! hope you have more luck than me.. :L

    -Hope this helped

Don't worry yourself, you can only try your best

Have you tried doing the past papers? Also try & get the edexcel green book (ask me if you want the proper name and I'll look) because that has some questions and examples in. If you make sure you cover everything and do your best, you'll do great

If there is anything you don't understand I will try and help you out, just say

They changed the spec so everyone's exam is 2hours now. We only have one paper to work from as a practice- the paper that is similar to the new exam. I really hope this goes well.
